Mouting NTFS Partitions
Hey guys, so I just installed Mint 10 with Mint4Win, and everything seems to be running fine; the only trouble I'm having is mounting the partition I have that has Windows 7 on it. I'd like to access those files, but I'm not really sure how to go about it; I always thought NTFS partitions were auto-...

Question
I know the RC release for LM9 is nearing, so my question is: will I be able to install the distro to a usb key? The cd/dvd drive in my laptop is no longer functioning correctly so I have to use a usb key to install windows/linux etc. Will I be able to use unetbootin or?

Re: Will Linux ever be ready for the desktop?
Personally, I prefer a rolling release, so long as they can figure out how to upgrade the toolchain and kernels without breaking stuff. Arch seems to have done this, and PCLOS somewhat.

Re: Linux Mint 6 KDE released!
Thanks, Clem. I've installed it to my HD partition and was facing some troubles to configure static IP. When I tried to use Graphical network settings I was getting "Error System Setting - Could not parse XML file()." Reading more from this forum I found a way to configure it editing /etc...

Wait, so it's still KDE 3.5? Or is it KDE4?Boo wrote:I hope to upload the latest DEV iso for testing tonight.
It is really an artwork and layout change, the silly season slowed things up a bit.

Re: What to tell my parents...
If you create restore images, or get some OEM disks, then I can't see your parents really complaining about anything. Also, tell them they can shell out the money for Win7 when it comes out. Then they might change their mind. Windows is an alright OS, but the costs of purchasing/upgrading are absurd.

Kubuntu will be backporting 4.2 when it is released...I've tried 4.1 and 4.2, and can honestly say that 4.2, even as a beta, is miles ahead of 4.1. The 4.2 RC is due the first week of January..

Re: The MASTER KDE CE update thread!
Regarding my post about KDE 4.2 (referring to the packages provided by Project Neon), I have now tried the official Kubuntu packages for KDE 4.2 Beta 1 and am very disappointed. I don't know whether I'm experiencing packaging errors (I guess I do) or whether my configutarion is screwing thing up, i...

Re: A little something I call; mintRedirection or Redirection.
Preferably for Linux Mint exclusively I would like to see something no other Linux or operating system can do today; It's called mint Redirection and what it does is it takes to power of the Gpu and re-directs it for other uses besides 2d and 3d rendering. That way I think people can have fast comp...

Re: When will we see OOo 3.0 in Linux Mint 6?
My guess is you won't see OO 3 until it gets into sid main. It is in experimental now. When Debian fixes it Ubuntu will probably pull it in. Don't forget that Ubuntu doesn't stand alone. Actually they do very little actual development work on upstream programs, considering the size of Ubuntu. Debia...
