Re: Gnome3 for the experienced (FUN Stuff!!!)

For those of us that still use Gnome Shell I have been playing with 3.4 and some new extensions from extensions.gnome.org Number one is the Axe Menu. It is like MGSE on steroids. Number two is Window List extension which puts a task switcher on the Gnome tool bar. Then add Move clock to right and t...

Yeah, I use a desktop PC and am completely comfortable with gnome shell. I have no desire to use anything else.

Re: Gnome3 for the experienced (FUN Stuff!!!)

Sorry that I didn't make the install process clearer...... Has anyone else commented on the possible security issues with the website? And yes, the Desktop data is held back for me as well.... They install to ~/.local/usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions so they aren't being granted root privileges, th...

Re: Gnome3 for the experienced (FUN Stuff!!!)

Mine appears to save the settings, it just never displays the weather. Could somebody with a working extension tar.gz it up and dropbox or similar? or email - xirconuk at gmail dot com. Cheers. Working weather extension configuration in dconf-editor. At some point someone else is going to be lookin...

Same here, no way to save changes in Preferences.
Did you try changing them with dconf-editor?

Re: Gnome3 for the experienced (FUN Stuff!!!)

Here's a link to the autohide extension cleaned up & formatted, based on the Webupd8 comments for 3.2. http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=11436233&postcount=10 Can't get that one to work, deleted the other one, moved new one to extensions folder restarted shell - nothing! Any tips? When you pul...

Re: Gnome3 for the experienced (FUN Stuff!!!)

Hey GeneC :) I was curious...with msge extensions...1) there isn't a way to move the top panel to the bottom and add on windows switcher and new mint slab menu, is there? Also...2) What if you wanted just the top panel, but wanted to move the windows switcher and new mint slab menu up to the top? c...

Re: Gnome3 for the experienced (FUN Stuff!!!)

Some of you may find this interesting as it pertains to the differences between extensions in 3.0 & 3.2. http://blog.fpmurphy.com/2011/11/updating-gnome-shell-extensions-to-work-with-gnome-3-2.html In case you're curious the mint menu seems to get better every day. They are obviously very committed ...

Re: Gnome3 for the experienced (FUN Stuff!!!)

I haven't tried it with 3.0 but the MGSE menu looks like it auto-detects 3.0-3.2 and behaves accordingly, but that's just a quick guess. Mr. Murphy has been slowly populating his website with updated versions. Take a look at what he did with the LM code, he calls it the Great Menu and it seems to be...

Re: Gnome3 for the experienced (FUN Stuff!!!)

Ok, in the tweener.js, if your monitor runs a refresh rate other than 60 you may want to look around line 210 // The 'FrameTicker' object is an object used to feed new frames to // Tweener so it can update values and redraw. The default frame // ticker for Tweener just uses a simple timeout at a fix...

Re: Gnome3 for the experienced (FUN Stuff!!!)

cbowman Wow. That is a collection of extensions.. :) Is that an ATOLM theme with Awoken icons? I think I may eventually get rid of the 'training wheels' (AWN dock) and use the 'applications', and 'favorites' extensions. Those monochrome icons make a big difference in appearance. My Faenza icons are...

I like the Activities function primarily for the Overview, but don't like it taking up all that space on the panel.

(Yes, this is gnome shell, not gnome classic/fallback)

Re: Gnome3 for the experienced (FUN Stuff!!!)

If you just want to eliminate the "Activities" entry that can be done by editing the panel.js, just change this._label = new St.Label({ text: _("Acivities") }); to this._label = new St.Label({ text: _("") }); [/b] (line 575) If you don't want the hotspot & Activities function there is the frippery A...
