Re: Building A School Computer Lab...

How would I do that now? Do I clone a disk image or something? I may need help with that one, plus all the above ones.... openSUSE already has its own imaging software located in YaST that has the option of taking your existing repositories and files and making a custom spin/iso out of them. Just m...

Re: "merge" mint and ubuntu?

Mint Backup has the option of backing up a list of all installed programs into a text file so you can easily re-download all your programs, so you can try that.

Re: Is there any way to squeeze out more speed in Xfce?

Without going into deep detail, one of the most basic ways to increase a computers efficiency is to examine what programs are being run from the moment the power button is pressed to the first instance of the desktop environment. Bootchart - Shows what processes stall boot time BUM - Easy gui that e...

You know, in the meantime, you could make a virtual hard drive in VirtualBox and install Linux Mint in there

Re: Help! Can't find xorg.conf?

By default, no xorg configuration file is made when first booting up. My way of automatically making a new one is to do this: Press "Ctrl+Alt+F1" which takes you to a virtual console Then do one of the following: 1) Type "sudo top" on the command prompt then press "SHIFT+>" until gdm pops up. Take n...

Re: Possible Idea For Mint 11 LMDE? Things I'd Like to See.

Since Ikey supposedly is out of LM team, and considering he was the LMDE maintainer, it'll probably be awhile before some of those CrunchBang features are in LMDE

Re: About Debian Xfce Edition.

I think the Linux Mint team is slow trying to make the transition from Ubuntu to Debian, so obviously, not all the kinks are worked out. Once they have accomplished all the base aspects of this Debian based edition, other versions, like the aforementioned minimalist version, I believe can come into ...

Re: Will Linux Mint now be Debian not Ubuntu?

Would it work if Mint was based on Debian while select packages from Ubuntu be repackaged and be available through the Mint repos? Seems like the best of both worlds to me

Re: [EDITED] Linux Mint USB Stick Sample Pictures!!

Cant believe no interest has been generated in this, I think its a great idea, and i like the look of those USB sticks although i would require a larger size personally, 16, 32Gb which i imagine would be too expensive to bulk purchase. Its also a great way to contribute to the mint community. Best ...

Re: Debian Xfce Edition RC approved

The gnome dependencies, not the apps, are the only things that bother me with the release; trying to remove some gnome programs in turn removes some mint meta-packages, not cool. :?

Could be NTFS causing the problems; maybe splitting up the drive and making one partition ext2/3/4 would help?

Re: How do you promote Mint?

I installed Mint on my Mom's computer when Windows farted; other than that, i'm not promoting mint much. Some cool Mint shirts would change that though
