Album art not showing in music applet

Hi all. Much as above: Album art isn't showing in the applet. Just the default CD image. I know the mp3 being played has both embedded art and art in the containing folder, but it isn't displaying. The embedded cover is a jpg, as is the file in the containing folder; Named 'Folder.jpg' Does it requi...

Re: If you had ONE request for the Cinnamon devs what would

Much as i love cinnamon, i don't feel i could switch unless i had the option to: Set windows to open centred by default, and by extension: a bindable key to centre windows. Having said that: Great work on Cinnamon. It's removed the feeling of dread i had when considering my linux future without gnom...

The one thing keeping me off Cinnamon...

The ability to have windows centred on opening and an assignable key to centre a window.
May seem like a small thing to most, but it's a real annoyance for me.

Anyone know of a solution?

Re: Which version of Mint are forum users using, and why?

I'm still using Mint 11 with Gnome 2.x, entirely due to feeling that Cinnamon isn't quite ready for my liking. I have every confidence that by the time mint 13 is released, cinnamon will be ready enough for me.

Re: Need some help to understand the firewall

No need to install firestarter. Just go to Menu -> Control Center -> Firewall Configuration. Start it, click the unlock button, make sure the "enabled" has a checkmark in front of it, and "incoming" is set to deny. There, now all incoming traffic is blocked and you can be sure the web safe. If you ...

Need some help to understand the firewall

Hi all, I'm wondering -as a home user- if I need to enable a firewall for my system, and if I do; What rules would be advisable to set up in general? My brain is telling me that Linux by default doesn't have ports open if they don't need to be. I may be wrong on that. Basically: I have no idea if I ...

Only my old PS2 mouse which never gave me any trouble. Edit: Now reattached the PS2 mouse as a quick backup for those moments when i need to keep the PC running and the USB mouse has failed. And if anyone is wondering: The PS2 mouse isn't ergonomic (generic Dell 3-button) and i have a bad right-wris...

Having odd mouse problems

Hi all, Ever since i switched from a PS2 mouse to USB (corded MS comfort 4000) i've been having intermittent issues. Every now and then -and often when my system is doing something intensive- the mouse just stops responding. A reboot fixes it, but that's not really a solution i'm happy with. I've tr...

[solved] seeking way to use the terminal to re-launch app

Hi all. I use LottaNZB but find it crashes a LOT. My current work-around is to launch it via the terminal and then re-launch it by simply hitting [up key] then [enter] rather than digging around the menus each time, and that can be quite frequent depending on how it's feeling at the time. I'm hoping...

Re: [solved] Grab handles - Wanting to remove them

I agree, this is a few steps backwards. In Mint 10 any controls along the bottom of a windows (like nautilus elementary icon size slider) seemed to shift to the left and make room for the resize handle. In Mint 11 nothing moves out of the way and the resize handle ends up sitting on top of everythi...

Turns out i'm a moron.

xev was indeed showing unique info for each button but i'd failed to notice it until you prompted me to look a little closer.
They ID as 8 and 9. I can readily assign them via compiz for switching windows as desired.

Trying to make buttons 4 & 5 work on a MS Comfort 6000 Mouse

Hi all, Just got a Microsoft Comfort 6000 wired mouse and i'm trying to get the thumb/side buttons to work. I've run xev to identify the output, and it seems that both buttons are registering as the same (90.00.00.......). I've done some googling relating to the mouses linux compatibility but come u...
