anyone? anything? Overheating of the GPU causes the system to crash..
I dont really want to use the display, a headless machine will do just fine.

[Solved] Fan control on iMac 5,1
Hello. I have a late 2006 iMac (5,1) running Linux Mint 17. Can the fans be controlled? I need to turn them up abit, because when the temperature gets abit high, the colors are all messed up (i also got different problems with the GPU, but that's in another thread). I tried using fan control, but wh...

Re: Disable GPU on iMac 5.1
I do not want to "fix" the gpu, i want to bypass it, as it cannot be changed (soldered on). XRANDR seems to work fine. (running xrandr prints some reports about available connectors and resolution). I am using the open-source driver, but it is not a driver problem. I want to disable the GP...

Disable GPU on iMac 5.1
Hello. I have an iMac 5,1 (late 2006) with a faulty GPU (got it from someone). At the moment, i am connecting to it over ssh. But i am thinking that if it's only the GPU, it might be disabled, the video processing done by the CPU with software rendering (i know, no movies this way), and it might wor...

CLUTTER_PAINT=disable-clipped-redraws:disable-culling
CLUTTER_VBLANK=True
to
/etc/environment
looks like the option nvidia gives u doesnt really work.

[solved]Tearing (Linux Mint 15 with Nvidia)
Installed Linux mint 15 RC with an CRT monitor as primary display. Now, i replaced it with a LCD tv. (via HDMI). I dont think that the fact that it's a "TV" should cause any problems... Native resolution : 1366x768 at 60Hz. I am getting 1360x768 atm at 60Hz. If any1 knows how i can get 136...

Re: USB Hard Drive Lost Support in Linux Mint 15 RC
In my case, mint 15 RC wont mount anything. I just pluged in a USB stick, it does nothing. this particular stick has a little LED that usually lights up when i connect it to a PC. Nothing in this case. Tried with 2 usb stick, 1 USB card reader, and 1 usb 3g dongle. My mouse and my wireless keyboard ...

Re: Linux Mint 15 Approved for RC Release
yeah, but in order to upgrade from RC to normal release you need to do a dist-upgrade.. Besides it's not that a big of a problem.. in 2 years dist-upgrade broke it like 3-4 times...and it was fixed like the next day.. (i dont mind breaking it). Not true. Just applying normal updates with the update...

Re: Linux Mint 15 Approved for RC Release
( doing dist-upgrade and it gives me the EFI kernel even tho i dont need that. Then, it wont boot with that kernel (kernel panic). If i select the old normal kernel, i get other error, this time in green text (weird green text) telling me that it will be fixed with a reboot... lies! ). Keep in mind...

Re: Linux Mint 15 Approved for RC Release
ty zerozero. I downloaded it knowing that something wont work, and prepared to reinstall it. After reading your link, i still dont see why mintinstall locks up after fresh install... btw, Brahim , the splashscreen in 14 looks nice, but when you install the nvidia - drivers (the closed source ones) i...

Re: Chinese on other distros
I have searched google for stuff like this but found nothing... Mint seems to be the problem because when i installed this particular time, i did a "clean" install (wiped /home too), so it was like format -> Mint -> OpenSUSE (problems with chinese) -> Mint (no problem) -> Ubuntu (chinese a...

[solved]Chinese on other distros
I was running mint 14 x64 Cinnamon. But i was playing on several occasions with OpenSUSE and now with Ubuntu 13.04 and i keep getting Chinese characters on some programs(after install). This is most probably because of Mint, as it is not affected. For example now i just installed the chrome browser ...

i meant it's at 50% when watching movie + copying file.. that's ok, that's not the problem. The problem is that it's unresponsive even though nothing is used 100%, or even close
