Re: Cannot see lmde3 pc on network

I had fun and games with sharing. At the moment, I don't have my LMDE3 laptop with me, I am using another wich is running LM 19.3. However, have you tried this: edit /etc/samba/smb.conf and add the following lines under "workgroup = WORKGROUP", in the "[global]" section: name resolve order = bcast h...

Re: Script to set mouse buttons

Excellent! It worked - however, I had to place the "mosart.conf" file in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/

Thank you SO much for your help.

[SOLVED] Script to set mouse buttons

I have a five button mouse and have written a script that runs on startup to set mouse buttons using xinput. I've called the file ".set_button_map.sh" and awarded the appropriate properties, it gets called on boot. I've tried two versions: Version 1: #!/bin/bash xinput set-button-map 15 1 2 3 4 5 6 ...

Re: Desktop Shortcuts/Links

Mine, too, is now like All41's. However, I did open dconf-editor, then went to: / org / nemo / preferences / and changed the following to "ON" context-menus-show-all-actions EDIT: I've just realised that you don't need dconf-editor, "Use full context menu" is the last but two option on Nemo's "Edit"...

Re: Problems when permanently mounting a nas drive in fstab

I had similar problems a while ago, before I discovered this: " Recent kernels changed the default SMB protocol version to 3.0; it used to be 1.0. The issue likely is that your server does not speak 3.0. You can specify the version to mount with by adding e.g. "vers=1.0", "vers=2.0" or "vers=2.1" to...

Re: Convince step-dad?

Pierre - it's not really his choice, it's his step-dad's machine. The OP was the one that wanted to install LM to begin with but the step-dad didn't/doesn't want that.

Silly question, possibly, but in that case why does he not simply reinstall Windows? :?

Re: Microsoft One Note

Nixnote2 is just a (unofficial) linux client for Evernote. You choose your Evernote account and log in just as you would with the Evernote Win10 client or a web client. You can choose your own sync settings, theme etc. More info on the Nixnote2 2.1 fork here: https://www.linuxuprising.com/2018/11/ev...

I'm a long-time Evernote fan and I've got the app on my tablet and mobile phone. On my Linux Mint PCs I use Nixnote2 and it works really well.

Removing window-list also removes Grouped-Window-List

Thanks all. I've noted it on github. A workaround seems to be to copy an existing launcher and manually edit its properties to match those that you originally wanted to create! 8)

Re: WhatsApp desktop app looking for Google Chrome

I discovered an alternative to Whatsap-Desktop and Rambox, it seems to work well and is called Whatdesk:

Re: WhatsApp desktop app looking for Google Chrome

Well, after first tasting success with the "Toggle Developer Tools" & "More Tools - Network Conditions" procedure, my WhatsApp Desktop again gave the "Update Chrome" message this morning. I've got it to work again and this is how I did it: Close Whatsapp Desktop Make a backup of "~/.config/whatsapp-...

Re: WhatsApp desktop app looking for Google Chrome

Well, this worked for me but only after I hit "View - Reload" BEFORE closing the "Developer Tools" windows.

Bye, bye Rambox!
