how to apt-get package pinning with lmde

I'm a big fan of Debian which is one thing that caused me to take a look at lmde and one of the issues I'm having in making the switch is with package pinning. In Debian I have my apt-get setup so that my preferences are like this: Package: * Pin: release a=stable Pin-Priority: 700 Package: * Pin: r...

Re: Mint-Debian on Arm (or Tegra) netbooks

There is really no need to compile the mint stuff from source cause Debian is doing a great job! Debian even supports PowerPC Anything you would want to compile from mint has likely already been compiled and working on Debian as it is. You might have to add a testing repo here or there but Debian is...

Re: mint on arm?

yes! There are so many tablets out right now on ARM. It is a shame that mint does not support them. Mint would be a great tablet distro. It has been built for tablet from the get go with the mint menu that ubuntu is trying to copy. ARM computers are so cheap and I so much prefer them as far as the h...

How to use Color Management control panel in Control Center

When I open up the control center, I found something called "Color Management". In the mint menu it's called "color profiles."

What does it do?

Anyone had success using it?

All there is when I open it up is a big dropdown menu asking to import a color profile.

Re: Mint Wicd Recomendation

The reason I want to install wcid is because "network manager" does not play well with avant window navigator and I want to get rid of the gnome panel.

Re: Julia VS isadora support?

What I'm hearing is that Linux mint 10 is actualy 9.25 then mint 11 will be 9.5 until Linux mint 15 comes out which will actually be a significant upgrade.

Have I understood correctly?

Re: Will Linux Mint now be Debian not Ubuntu?

Personally, I came to Linux because of all the trendy hype that it was a user friendly ubuntu. If it's not ubuntu anymore I think youre gonna lose a lot if noobies jumping on the band wagon. Since I've never heard of debian, if mint should switch to it, this is going to cause me to give straight ubn...

Julia VS isadora support?

Why is Linux mint 10 only supported until April of 2012 while an older version Linux mint 9 is to be supported until 2013? Shouldn't the newer version get longer support? I'm referring to this page http://www.linuxmint.com/oldreleases.php This is really confusing to me since I'm looking to try out L...
