Re: Mint Update - not to be used in Debian XFCE
Okay, that makes more sense. Someone said that mintUpdate was really for Ubuntu. Tick all as both 'safe' and 'visible' and I am done? How does one resolve the whole 'upgrade' versus 'update' issue using mintUpdate, should you periodically 'upgrade' via the commandline?

[SOLVED] Mint Update - not to be used in Debian XFCE
Out of the recent set of update wrinkles, it has emerged to me that mintUpdate should not be used. Should this be pointed out to adopters and shouldn't it be removed from the build or the user somehow cautioned? mintUpdate is still one of my top processes, why keep it running using resources and can...

Re: Xfce 4.8 and Conky
On another forum I found a better solution than own_window_type override. # Create own window instead of using desktop (required in nautilus) own_window yes own_window_argb_visual yes own_window_type desktop own_window_transparent yes own_window_hints undecorated,below,sticky,skip_taskbar,skip_page...

Re: Update messes with Conky background
Thanks for this, much better than the work-around. I came across the 'override' bit but was using it wrong!
Desktop icons flicker or are not visible now, seems like I saw that mentioned somewhere!

Re: Power Icon doesn't show on laptop...
I have the same issue, no icon until you select power settings. Power settings also doesn't seem to work with my laptop's (Asus UL20A) screen brightness controls. I will manually brightness down through the function key and a few seconds/ minutes later the system will revert to full (like it is tryi...

Re: Update messes with Conky background
found this: You install new KDE-4.5 and conky’s background seems to be different then you real wallpaper? You lost transparency effect. Everything what you need to know and do is using cmd program feh which should be able to redraw your current wallpaper for conky. The best idea is write script like...

[SOLVED] Update messes with Conky background
First restart after update shows default wallpaper under Conky, not the currently selected wallpaper. Something to do with the new workspaces implementation?

Re: Linux Mint Xfce RC (201104) released!
The terminology is a bit confusing but at the end : -use 32 bit version for old cpu with no 64 bit capabilities (either AMD or Intel cpu) -use either 32 or 64 bit (sometimes named "amd") version for recent cpu with 64 bit capabilities (either AMD or Intel cpu). If you have more than 4 GB ...

Re: Linux Mint Xfce RC (201104) released!
I am really enjoying this release, are there any plans for an x86 64-bit version? The i686 is only seeing 3GB on a 4GB system.
