Re: Any news on using cinnamon with separate x screens?

I've come to accept this issue not being fixed, so I haven't even bothered to check with the latest version. I take it it's still broken? I'm actually quite happy to use Xfce on my desktop/TV box. It has a very low memory footprint and also makes it very easy to enable a right click menu which is th...

Re: Any news on using cinnamon with separate x screens?

You are NOT the only one, there are at least two of us :D I have exactly the same issue: Secondary monitor is a TV that is not always on, underscan issues (fixed mostly by tweaking xorg a little), to the left (just moved it to the right though) mostly used for XBMC. Twinview is not an option, as som...

Re: Poll: Desktop environments

I use Xfce and Gnome Shell for my two main computers, each assigned to a very different task. Neither DE is perfect, but they each suit me for different purposes. If I'd find a single DE I could set up (whitout spending too much time on config) for all my computing needs, I'd probably go for it, but...

Re: LMDE BREAKAGES - tracking Testing - read here first-10/

i can now run some evil proprietary software in a virtual machine instead of booting to the evil proprietary operating system which came with my laptop. fortunately enough, my local church of nano isn't so judgemental. lastly, as a general rule i don't follow people who wear fanny packs. thanks for...

Re: LMDE BREAKAGES - tracking Testing - read here first-10/

#/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup /etc/init.d/vboxdrv: command not found Actually I have to second viking777's words. What I failed to mention earlier is that I'm using the Oracle non-free version from this repo: deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian squeeze contrib non-free I just thought ...

Re: virtualbox-ose and 3.0 kernel problems: tracking debian

upgraded to the latest 3.0 kernel (last week) and virtualbox guests fail to start. all virtualbox guests (various linux flavors, win, bsd) started with no problems prior to update. when attempting to start a guest, virtualbox returns the following error: Please install the virtualbox-ose-dkms packa...

Re: LMDE BREAKAGES - tracking Testing - read here first-10/

I always use apt-get dist-upgrade. same as me. so, i don't get why the differences. Does this mean that we'll get it later then? Since it is held back? if you use apt-get dist-upgrade, you will, anyway you are not losing functionality, since it was enabled in ugly. and you can see a bit more in the...

Re: POLL: Are you tracking new Mint Repo or "Debian Testing"

I do mix testing, unstable and experimental using apt-pinning. While packages are generally installed from testing, I like certain programs in userspace to be more up to date. This is my configuration in /etc/apt/preferences: Package: * Pin: release o=linuxmint Pin-Priority: 700 Package: * Pin: ori...

Re: LMDE BREAKAGES - read here first - Update 2 july 2011

I was able to fix this by temporarily changing from testing to unstable in sources.list, installing nvidia-glx and all dependencies, and then reverting back from unstable to testing. Everything seems to be working great. Did a clean and update and everything still shows up to date and I'm not asked...

Re: Weather/Clock Issue

I have exactly the same issue with LMDE. The Weather indicator does not show in panel unless I set the location. This I have to do every time I boot. Time is fine, although a little ahead of my actual time (Reykjavík). This is a little annoying, although hardly a showstopper. I do not have other OS'...

Re: When will a Firefox 4 package be available for LMDE user

So... any news yet? What's the situation with the FF package anyway? Obviousley it's not from Debian repos and if it came from Romeo it would surely have been updated by now. If it's been included as a "stand alone" package set to be updated from the Mozilla site I'd really appreciate some...

Re: LMDE BREAKAGES - read here first - Update 30 mar 2011

Yes, using Archive Manager to look at the components of mintsystem_7l7l5_ii386.deb I see that there is a mint-fortune component located at /usr/bin/mint-fortune of the archive. When I then go to open the mint-fortune in my installed system, which properties shows as accessed and modified today, lin...

Re: When will a Firefox 4 package be available for LMDE user

I second this query. I'd much rather wait for the official LMDE repo's but when should it land there? Surely any day now? :-)
