Re: LMDE Question

Later editions of VB (4.X and up) don;t work so well (especially with the new kernel). Try using an older version. I use 3.2.8 and have no problems. Additionally, I didn't need to add any repositories.

I am running the Live version of Mint 11 and need to resolve this issue before deciding to actually install the OS. Thanks! You need to tell your live version to allow y...

Re: LMDE BREAKAGES - read here first - Update 17 may 2011

OK, you busted me. Once a day I update from the terminal. I let it do whatever it wants. While the updates you have are what I installed, I do not recall having anything removed. Sorry I cannot be of more help.

Re: Linux Mint Debian 64bit Update Problem

Try this (no guarantees)

Code: Select all

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.debian.org --recv-keys AED4B06F473041FA
I think it will work. You won;t be any worse off. If it doesn;t work, then try

Code: Select all

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver security.debian.org  --recv-keys AED4B06F473041FA

[SOLVED] Changing the Login Screen Background

I wish to change the background art of the login screen from the Mint 10 default to something else. I can change the boot background art no problem, but not the login art. Anyone know where the file is? Any tips or tricks? Help?

Re: LMDE BREAKAGES - read here first - Update 13 may 2011

F-spot broken: f-spot : depends on: libcairo2 (>= 1.10.2-2~) but 1.10.0-1ubuntu2 will be installed. This is what the error message looks like from synaptic: error.jpeg The terminal gives me this: terminal.jpeg I'm going to wait on this one, as MU didn't see the update, synaptic wouldn't do the upda...

Re: Sharp font. linux mint xfce 2011.04

OK, I'll take a stab at it.

HOW TO: Change the fonts on LMDE XFCE 4.8:
1. Go to Menu>Settings>Settings Manager
2. Ckick on "Appearance"
3. Click on the "Fonts" tab
4. Change the fonts, sizes, dpi, and aliasing to your heart's content!

Re: Newbie in Thailand

The Mint logo does look a bit like the Thai number "2" -

As for adding the Thai keyboard layout and thai characters to Mint, read what I posted here: viewtopic.php?f=141&t=72585

Have you ever tried to walk a user through procedure half a world away? Yes. I do that regularly. I suppose you never heard of TeamViewer? http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=9750486&postcount=2 I guess I should have said, "Have you ever tried to walk your 80 year old mother . . . "...

So my Mom called me, complaining about the OS on her machine (a four year old Dell desktop). Have you ever tried to walk a user through procedure half a world away? AND . . . she uses Vista, which I know nothing about. So I suggested that she should try out some other distros. I have a few live CDs ...

^ even though I know nothing about spinning or creating distros, I'll put my two satang in. As the father of small children, I would love a "grow as you grow" distro. My five year old uses my computer, and while he does have a basic understanding of it, the multitude of menu items he sees ...
