Re: Moving home to a partition on the same disk

If you want to move your home to its own partition, this works - enter one line at a time and change the partition to use in the first line to your new home partition PART=sda6 FMT=ext4 sudo cp -a /etc/fstab /etc/fstab.old sudo mkdir /mnt/newhome sudo mount -t $FMT /dev/$PART /mnt/newhome sudo chown...

Re: Code running during reboot

I think you're going to have to be a bit more specific with what you actually did, e.g., the code you entered :?

Re: Mint will not allow me to save folder in new partition due to permissions

If rrg is your user name then create a mountpoint /media/RRG then mount /dev/sda3 to it and sudo chown rrg:rrg /media/RRG If you have files on the partition with owner:group settings other than you then use sudo chown-R rrg:rrg /media/RRG Mount the partition to /media/RRG with /etc/fstab during boot.

Re: Mint will not allow me to save folder in new partition due to permissions

Tried using this code (partition is sda3) but still does not allow me to access it. I tried with the partition both mounted and unmounted, to no avail. Looking up the permissions in the properties for the partition it tells me: "The permissions of WDC WD10EZEX-08WN4A0: 'RRG Documents' could not be ...

Re: Help writing BASH for pinging range of IP addresses

You'll have to delete alive_list before rerunning this.

for i in 192.168.1.{100..254} ; do echo "IP $i";if ping -c1 -w1 $i &>/dev/null; then echo "$i is alive">>alive_list; fi; done

Re: RAM Not fully detected by Mint 18.3

The only thing I can suggest is to check it occasionally and if it happens again try reseating the modules.

Otherwise as I said previously everything looks fine.
