Re: How safe is it to upgrade D-Bus?

I've never encountered a problem with dbus even though it is quite complicated - several instances of it are processing constantly as you can see with pgrep -a dbus There's no need to test it since it invokes your desktop session so if your session starts that would indicate that everything is A-OK.

Most likely it's come rule that's been set with UFW and it will require a modification. In the man page The CT target sets parameters for a pack...

Re: history

Open your ~/.bashrc file - there should be a line HISTSIZE=1000

You might have to adjust your HISTFILESIZE too.

Re: Boot failure [solved but why?]

That's strange given that the errors appear to be graphics related :?

You might want to try the nofail mount option in your fstab entry and see if that happens again with the 1TB HDD removed.

Are you sure of the file name :?:

Is it possible that you accidentally deleted it or moved it elsewhere :?:

Try all pdf files with find ~ -iname '*.pdf'

Re: can't boot, encrypted drive - how to recover data ?

Did you mount /dev :?:

I don't see that in your terminal paste :?

The first mount under # Establish a proper chroot environment is
sudo mount -o bind /dev /mnt/dev

You'll have to exit the chroot and start over.

Re: Made changes to /etc/cups/cupsd.conf need a clean/new file

The cupsd post installation copies the file /usr/share/cups/cupsd.conf.default to /etc/cups/cupsd.conf so all you need to do is

sudo cp /usr/share/cups/cupsd.conf.default /etc/cups/cupsd.conf

Hello MyM http://af-templates.s3.amazonaws.com/images/smilies/sp/hello.gif Welcome to Linux Mint and the Linux Mint forum :) Accessing your files on the 1TB hdd will not be a problem. There's no need to setup a /home partition on it to have access to it. A /home partition can be retrofitted post ins...

If there wasn't a patch for that problem I would have recommended blacklisting that module until it was addressed, but I see you have things under control
