Re: Canonical ends Kubuntu support?

Canonical goes from one bad decision to another lately. But it doesn't surprise me. Sort of leaves both Mint KDE and Netrunner out to dry. They should just pool their resources and make an awesome Debian KDE release IMO. I continue to worry for all those who bet so much, and rely so much on Ubuntu....

Re: Battery quickly loses charge under KDE

I would suspect there is something hammering your system. I'm running Mint 12 KDE on a 64 bit laptop with desktop effects enabled and I easily get over 3.5 hours of battery before having to recharge.. I thought so too. There's absolutely no way that desktop effects would account for 45 minutes of m...

Re: Battery quickly loses charge under KDE

What I may do instead is have a dual boot of Ubuntu and Mint KDE instead. gives me the best of both worlds!

Re: Canonical ends Kubuntu support?

Well this is quite concerning since I believe the Mint KDE ppas are essentially the same as Kubuntu's... Well hopefully Clem puts KDE ontop of Debian like was stated earlier!

Re: Battery quickly loses charge under KDE

You don't LIKE light DEs? Why not? You can customize it like I did with Compiz, Emerald, and Docky. I have the cube and all Compiz effects in LXDE as well. I know why the battery drains faster: it's set to the maximum processor frequency. In Gnome, you can add an applet called "cpu frequency scalin...

Re: Battery quickly loses charge under KDE

Disable all the fancy effects of KDE. Many people have been complaining about this issue. If you're worried about the battery, you should get LXDE. This environment uses the least amount of resources and battery power. Open terminal and type "sudo apt-get install lxde". When you want to switch to i...

Battery quickly loses charge under KDE

I just switched over to Linux Mint KDE 2 days ago and I have noticed that my battery loses power at an alarmingly faster rate than it did under Ubuntu with the Unity interface. I was wondering what would cause that and if it would be wise to go back to Unity and Ubuntu as I can't risk having my comp...

Re: Configure Pager like GNOME Workspaces

think this may help. right click on the pager in the tool bar. click pager settings. go to virtual desktops/switching. at the bottom of the page is the configure shortcut section. hope that helped. Yeah but how do I configure all four shortcuts? It only allows one. Scroll down the list, or just mak...

Configure Pager like GNOME Workspaces

One thing I loved about GNOME is the workspaces and I know KDE has a version of them called Pager. What I don't know how to do is configure the keyboard shortcuts to act exactly the same as in GNOME 2.x or Unity. (CTRL+ALT+Left would go workspace to the left... etc.) Can anyone help me configure my ...

Re: A couple of questions regarding KDE

Re: A couple of questions regarding KDE

As for dropbox, there is a similar application called Kfilebox, I use it regularly without problems: http://maketecheasier.com/install-and-use-dropbox-in-kubuntu/2010/12/24 Instead, for ubuntuone, you can take a look here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/64632/why-isnt-there-a-kde-client-for-ubuntu-...

A couple of questions regarding KDE

So I have been having problems with GNOME and Unity lately and I would like to check out the KDE aspect of the Linux world. Currently, I have only tried KDE in the past (4.4...?) and on someone else's computer. From what I remember, certain things such as DropBox don't work in KDE... Is there any wa...

How to make Mint 12 less....green

I love Mint, it is my favorite Distro due to the community and the devs, but the only thing I don't really like about Mint is the amount of green it has in it. The only green I like is cash!!! But I get that its called Mint so its green. But what I want to know is how change Mint to be less green. I...

Re: Does Pidgin integrate well with Gnome Shell?

I just downloaded Empathy and it has much better Gnome integration than Pidgin and I recommend it for Gnome Shell users.

Does Pidgin integrate well with Gnome Shell?

I am coming from Ubuntu 11.10 with Gnome Shell installed, but I absolutely love the messaging integration in Gnome Shell on there with Ubuntu. I wanted to know if Pidgin reacts in the same way as Empathy does in Gnome Shell, or should I just install Empathy?
