Re: Manjaro overtakes Mint in Distrowatch page-hit rankings

After seeing that Manjaro was in the first place in Distro Watch, I have tested it. I installed the XFCE version of Manjaro. And it is really good. Very quick. In some ways, it reminds me of the old times, when LMDE was a "rolling" distribution. I fell in love with Mint thanks to that first experien...

Re: MATE 1.18 updates

I understood in this thread (Monsta said it) that the bug (Firefox freezing MATE) is in MATE; and that is has been solved in the git version, but it is still not in our repositories. Ubuntu MATE users also experience it.

Re: MATE 1.18 updates

I have loved LMDE MATE since the old times of the rolling edition. I was patient with all the changes in between. I admire the great work, and the generosity of people working for a GNU project. But I humbly complain. I think there are possible upgrades (like Libreoffice) which we do not automatical...

Re: MATE 1.18 updates

Is there a way to make the fix quickly available in LMDE? For me, it is not easy to cope with the git archives... And the problem is quite important, because it affects a feature (going to the download folder) which I often use. And the consequences are big, because the whole desktop freezes... Now ...

Re: MATE 1.18 updates

Since the update there is a problem with Firefox, when trying to open the download folder. There is a thread here where the problem is described: https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/firefox-freezes-after-trying-to-open-downloads/12630/20 monsta (I guess the same as our Monsta here) says that it is a MAT...

Re: llinuxmintart.org is the forum hacked?

It was linuxmint-art.org

It seems to have been my fault, anyway. Probably I put an avatar from that website, and at certain moment, the site began to ask for a password...

Re: llinuxmintart.org is the forum hacked?

Thank you... It was no joke... I was really concerned.

But I changed tha avatar, and the problem is gone...

The strange thing is that I dont remember changing the avatar. In any case, I have changed my password now.

Sorry for the inconveniences and thank you for the help.

[SOLVED] liuxmint-art.org is the forum hacked?

Every time I go to the linux mint forums, I get a request from linuxmintart.org, asking for my username and password. I have never been to linuxmintart.org, and it looks like foul play.

Does anybody know something about this strange behave at the forums?

Re: Problem installing Virtualbox

I would un-check any non essential reposotory and try again.

In synaptic you can also see the state of the different packages, and check which ones are broken. I would re-install them.

Re: Problem installing Virtualbox

I had a problem with different versions of Virtualbox. They conflicted, and I got several warnings at startup. What I had to do was to purge virtualvox in the terminal: sudo apt-get purge virtualbox And then: sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade sudo apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r) Aft...

Re: Firefox v46: scrollbar problems

My problem with the update is the bookmarks bar: it has less space than before, Firefox 46 leaves a lot of space between each bookmark on the bar.

Yes, I am using MATE, too.

Dropbox with LMDE 2 Betsy MATE

I upgraded from LMDE to LMDE 2 Betsy, and almost everything worked fine. But caja-dropbox was not working for me. I could not see the Dropbox icons in the Dropbox directory in Caja (the MATE file manager), and I did not have the Dropbox options when I clicked the right mouse over a file (for example...

Re: when lmde 2 (betsy) will be available?

I have installed Debian Jessie with MATE, and it works fine. I had to do several things to have a working MATE Desktop (for example, to use Dropbox, to have update notifications, and so on). The experience is good, and it really runs quicly, better than Ubuntu and Ubuntu based distributions. But I a...

Re: No updates for me :(

It seems that LMDE will be following the stable version of Debian from November on. Therefore, Mint team is preparing an upgrade from the last package to Debian "Jessie". After that, you will receive the normal debian stable updates.
