Re: Radio Tray Bookmark Additions...

Hi Portreve, Yes, you are missing something in comprehending what StreamTuner2 is and or does. StreamTuner2 provides access to streaming stations from all over the world, but it does not have its own built-in player for playing audio streams or video streams, it sends the links to the default music...

Re: Radio Tray Bookmark Additions...

Why would I be using Radio Tray to play streams when I'm (trying to) use ST2? Am I missing something here?

Re: Radio Tray Bookmark Additions...

Hey again, phd21 ! As I have already mentioned, I too have had the inconvenience of StreamTuner2 (st2) crashing or locking up and needing to be restarted when selecting categories (genres) for the first time or after updating and adding new features and options. After selecting categories for the fi...

Re: Radio Tray Bookmark Additions...

streamtuner2 is operational! (this app is awesome! here's what I did to get it to work: Download patched file from archive put up by dev: https://fossil.include-once.org/streamtuner2/tarball/2c95973b5a/streamtuner2-2c95973b5a.tar.gz opened and extracted compat2and3.py to my Desktop and co...

I cannot tell which edition and version of Linux Mint you are using. Why not add that to your signature?
Good idea.

Re: ‘Five Eyes’ governments call on tech giants to build encryption backdoors — or else

I go into this proposition and subject with the starting assumption that all players are bad actors whose motivations are inherently suspect. Moreover, any back door is automatically potentially exploitable and for that and other reasons is by definition a weakness which in one way or another, wheth...

Re: Radio Tray Bookmark Additions...

I'm really looking forward to being able to try this out. Apart from my very specific language learning needs, I would like something that does a nice job of aggregating streams. Except for Radio Tray or something of an equivalent nature, I've never been able to get much use out of most streaming ap...

Re: Radio Tray Bookmark Additions...

Hey redlined , phd21 , Gruppo Sportivo , et al: I honestly had no idea this thread would generate so much interest. Wow! I'm running LM19 Cinnamon, for those who've asked. Except for a couple work-related things, I've been so busy this week that I've barely touched my computer at all. I'm going to t...

Hi Portreve, You are welcome... Keep us posted on your progress... . Well, I just had a chance to install it but it won't open. I even tried launching it via terminal and it just doesn't open. When I tried it that way, here's the output I get: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/strea...

NOTE TO MODS: If this topic would fit better in another area, please feel free to move it accordingly. Thanks! I'm in the process of learning German, and one of the things I want to do is listen to German language radio over the Internet (since that's the only way I'm able to do so) and in the cour...

Re: windows 7 EOL opportunity for linux?

I'm not really sure why I'm about to post this response. I think it has as much to do with trying to get my mind off of personal matters vexing my thoughts today as it has to do with the topic at hand. Nevertheless, I'll try to shepherd together some coherent thoughts for you to contemplate. Because...

Re: windows 7 EOL opportunity for linux?

lol, exactly! although the 'landscape' has changed significantly since winXP was finally fading away and official EOL everywhere. I believe the general public is waking up to greater privacy appreciations and concerns that have come to the forefront with EU data handling laws, daily (seeming) mega-...

Re: windows 7 EOL opportunity for linux?

The primary limiting factor here for migration of the masses towards GNU+Linux is one of intellectual laziness. I would say "ignorance" but ignorance is actually an adjective, not a verb, and in any event is eminently curable. However, people have to actively want to cure it. That means bothering to...

Re: Microsoft Edge will be based on Chromium

While the reply stays the same --- who cares about Microsoft's motivation in a field in which they will not be able to hurt anyone except themselves anyway? The future is unknowable in terms of specific facts. That said, past behavior is often an indicator of future actions, and who is to say what ...

Re: Who is spying on us?

Good morning. It is true. And so what? we have a right to privacy PERIOD, THAT"S WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!! But do we, actually? What I mean by that is best explained by way of an analogy. We tend to think of property ownership rights in basic, traditional terms: I buy an object and it is now legally mine an...

Re: Microsoft Edge will be based on Chromium

You don't have to. Microsoft simply doesn't have the clout to eff anyone over in this area. Embrace and Extend? Yeah, and Extinguish themselves... I don't trust Micro$oft's motivations here. In fact, I don't trust any of their motivations (in general, obviously) where anything GNU+Linux or libre li...

Re: Who is spying on us?

We in the U.S. live in the land and in the era of convenience and utility. That doesn't necessarily mean we're doing something wrong (though there are individual instances when a given way we do something is wrong) but what it does mean is there's a consequence for how we're living. Government is a ...

Re: Kilogram, ampere, kelvin and mole redefined

I was talking about what you may call middle school / junior high school (ages 12-14). In middle school we only had mandatory classes back then and chemistry was part of it IIRC. I got to select which classes to take in high school. I live in Florida. Our state educational results are towards to bo...
