Re: The sources.list and their variables

Hello, I'm still using the old sources.list, the ones based on the official Debian repos and used before Mint opened its incoming and latest repos. I've modificated a little bit the file and the preferences file. Do you think I can continue using this sources.list without problems (meaning : problem...

Re: Packages already in GTK3

I also wonder about this since Gnome-Terminal (which I use a lot) looks bad. The System Monitor, Calculator and a couple of other programs have the same problem. Since Linux Mint has chosen to stick to Gnome 2 sooner or later a solution to the Gnome 3 based programs included must be resolved. Some ...

Packages already in GTK3

Hello everybody, Some packages have already switched to GTK3 in Debian Testing, like gnome-terminal, while others (the vast majority I'd say) haven't, like gedit. tt@macondo ~ $ apt-cache policy gnome-terminal gnome-terminal: Installé : 3.0.1-1 tt@macondo ~ $ apt-cache policy gedit gedit: Installé :...

Re: Mint will not install on newly built computer.

Hello,

Perhaps Linux Mint 7 and 8 are just too old and your hardware is not supported by their linux kernel. Anyway, those versions are not supported anymore - no security updates. Try out Linux Mint 9 Isadora (LTS), Linux Mint 11 or Linux Mint Debian Edition.

Re: Partition mess up

Hello, I don't understand exactly where you are with your data and partitions... Anyway, if your data is on the Linux Mint partition and if you have an external copy of it (recommended), the good software to handle partitions is Gparted . If you do not plan to touch the Linux Mint partition and just...

And we're speaking about Linux Mint Debian Edition here, which looks pretty much as Mint 10.

Re: Another Fedora Refugee

Thanks Tony. Appreciate your help, and I really am enjoying LMDE. I just thought of another question. Is there any way I can stop the message of the day appearing when I open a terminal? eg: ( Tonight you will pay the wages of sin; ) ( Don't forget to leave a tip. ) --------------------------------...

Re: trouble instaling

Hello Renzokuken1227, That's strange, because the login screen only appears if Mint is already installed on the hard disk. The live session shows a real desktop for test, without password needed. Are you sure you didn't boot on the hard disk, or you didn't already installed Linux Mint ? Check the us...

Re: Another Fedora Refugee

Question: is apt-get an okay way to install software? Somewhere I thought I read that you should use the GUI tools instead? I'd much rather use a command line myself... Apt-get is more than ok - I use it all the time, and you can use it or the GUI tools indifferently. You can use apt-cache to get t...

Re: MATLAB x64 Installation on Linux Mint 11

Hello Safaroth and welcomed to Linux Mint, Honestly, I'm not sure anybody will be very helpful here. Without the program (or the ability to download it), it's hard to help someone. I would recommend you to contact the Matlab support crew or to ask there : http://www.mathworks.com/support/. Anyway, I...

Re: News from Clem ! Future of LMDE, snapshot system, etc...

One thing I thought after I sent mails... It would be nice to have a Debian Stable Linux Mint (not "rolling"). The elegance of Linux Mint with the stability of Squeeze. I figure that's not so difficult to build, "just" change repositories to point towards squeeze + backports (to keep it more up to d...

Because the main developper is french, and in french you put first the noun and then the adjectives/qualificatives (english does the opposite).

Re: Screen Resolution

You could also change the font DPI in GNOME's appearance applet, increasing the DPI should make fonts overall larger. This won't change the size of most of the UI elements unless they're dependent on the font size (like test boxes, buttons and the like...) but should be good enough. Set your monito...
