if you have a onboard soundchip apparently the crackle can be fixed by changing the default rate to 48000khz
there is a guide to pulse i found by googling here:

Re: Memory Leak Mint 17.1 cinnamon
ok i tested it, it IS better but I think my particular issue could be a clocking bug, the max power state remains on the nvidia settings manager unless i select adaptive to force it out of the state. Even then the refresh was definatley better .. but if im honest .. its not fixed it. imo there is al...

Re: Memory Leak Mint 17.1 cinnamon
I think ive found the answer or answers.. firstly i was experiencing slow down with the Volume+apps applet on the system tray, for some reason that introduces lag, stick with the default if you experience the same. Secondly and this 'Definatley' and instantly cured my problem with the closed source ...

Re: Slow performance when dragging windows
i think its a bug in 17.1
try turning off: Disable compositing for full screen windows in "general" settings.
give it a few seconds.
it happens on Nvidia too.

Re: Memory Leak Mint 17.1 cinnamon
oky left it for 3 hrs and moving windows is a slide show about 2fps a second.... its not a memory leak i dont think, my system was idle at 1gb (which is ridiculous why is it so high on mint i have hardly anything running ?? ) even so, i had 7gb spare. Its possibly a compositing issue or some sort of...

Memory Leak Mint 17.1 cinnamon
there is one.
its quite fast too.
started playing a game online, after 35 mins the frame rate dropped from a smooth 60fps to 20fps stuttering. Alt-tab .. restart cinnamon .. back upto 60fps.
so the memory leak is effecting whole system performance and graphics after 30 - 40 mins.

Re: Can't set, copy or change file mode
I have this also on an external HDD ( internal non-mounted ext4 )
its stopping me access my steam games
right clicking on nemo and trying to change file access is ignored. I have tried everthing, it even effects every single drive and the home drive too. I have fresh installed twce.

and window function and the audio clicks.

Stark Menu is better than Default Cinnamon menu
Can it be used on Mint 18? as a default? the stark menu is a lot cleaner, simpler and fits with cinnamon better. The default menu tends to be too large and cumbersom with too many icons and often vast areas of wasted space. the actual performance on the default menu is slower than the stark menu too...

Re: LM-17 Cinnamon is not good for gamers.
@phill1978 Thanks for posting this information here. Great confirmation of problems with Cinnamon under different hardware. KDE certainly seems to be a good alternative for gamers if they don't like XFCE. FYI found out something.. Window edge tiling and fliping causes inconsistent performance on th...

Re: LM-17 Cinnamon is not good for gamers.
I left cinnamon as Vsync wasnt working properly. I tried a variety of things but even for a moderatley adept user like myself it wasnt working. I was using AMD opensource and AMD catalyst but the problem was AMD catalyst was much faster but wouldnt tie into the cinnamon desktop properly. So in the e...

how to enable vsync on cinnamon with amd opensource?
As per thread title? I have now had to resort to installing the catalyst driver (which isnt too bad but its inconsisent on games). I have hideous tearing out of the box with Cinnamon Mint 17 using the x.server / edgers FOSS driver i tried looking for an easy flick switch on the cinnamon control pane...

Re: Cinnamon and black windows
you do realise there is very little support on these forums if ANY? they take $10,000 a month in donations but you dont get a response unless someone in the community helps you not a dev. So, my answer would be to log the issue on GitHub under the Linux mint Cinnamon Section. And to be fair it does ...

Re: Dota-2 running slower on Mint 16 than on Windows
Ah, thanks for clearing that up for me. I may be asking too much but would you(or anyone else) know why linux would be running the game so much slower? On windows I can run most games at approximately half settings, but with linux it runs very bad at the lowest possible settings. yes compositing. i...

Thats a nice tool, optically i now have what i wanted. One issue so: Docky emulates a taskbar, it actually shows all currently running proramms. Is there a possibility to configure it that way that ONLY shortcuts are shown there? currenly i have both the taskbar fo cinnamon and docky showing me run...

Re: Anyone tried Gnome3 lately ?
When i originally tried Gnome3 i was so confused and almost started laughing. Now with the latest iteration and gnome tweak tool (should be supplied as standard) it is amazing because i can add minimise , places , and classic menu, which was all that was needed. It is everything cinnamon is not,whic...

Re: Cinnamon crashes ad infinitum
Seen as my recent thread was (rudely!!! considering im a paid contributor) deleted.
Can I also add my Cinnamon crashes a lot and it IS NOT THE VIDEO CARD.
I have tried on Nvidia, Intel and AMD GPU's
It IS cinnamon/muffin in itself as a window manager.
