Re: I'm sick of FUD and misinformation regarding Linux Mint
lol folks knocking down mint cause it's user friendly and stable, ok I guess they want something harder and more unuseable I guess  I still recommend mint to all folks wanting to come over to linux, why? cause it's stable, easy to use, user friendly, still got all my family on it, well ok arch...

Re: ClockTow Desklet Fork
That was 4 years ago, to be honest I didn't even remember this post until I got the email notification, I know it was a desklet back when I used mint and cinnamon but I'm on manjaro now with xfce and if I remember right it was a desklet already provided by someone else with just some modifications t...

Re: Is distro hopping ultimately pointless?
It's not pointless if you haven't found what you're looking for. There are more than 100 to choose from, probably more. Seems the moment some basement dweller learns how to assemble a distro, it's added to the already unmanageable list. Nowadays I need to know who is behind it, whether one or two p...

Re: End of KDE
I put the wife on arch once, although she loved the speed, and didn't mind taking care of things through the terminal all the time, she prefers using software managers and upgrade managers instead like mints. There's a whole bunch of software & upgrade managers that work on Arch Linux. Anything pac...

Re: End of KDE
I moved to manjaro last night... Sorry to see you go. Will you still stick around these forums? I been using manjaro for quite some time now, you should enjoy it catweasel, it's pretty solid on most points, the rest of the family gets mint to make my life easier on fixing stuff. I use the xfce vers...

and control over fellow humans. I always looked at it as someone constantly staring at you, it gets unnerving after awhile because their gaze is fixed on you constantly, it becomes totally annoying. After telling the person not to stare because it's just rude, they keep staring and in the end you ju...

Re: CIA targets Linux users.
So what would I be doing differently? Probably the same as the rest of us....... nothing. I have to disagree with you there . I am not one of the " us " , and I'm guessing that there are many others on here that take the same view . A simple first step is to take full control of your router , and t...

Re: EU threatens code sharing (and therefore Linux software development)
function create() { } hmmm this might be another software that has a copyright attached to it, it must go  Besides, writing code isn't the same thing as normal writing. It's not plagiarism to write a bit of code that's identical to someone else's. Sometimes, a particular method is they way som...

Re: EU threatens code sharing (and therefore Linux software development)
This is entirely ridicules, nothing more then a police state attempt on the internet.
I signed it and passed it on to another forum to have them sign it as well.
What do they plan on doing, taking down or blocking github now?
Freaking nuts.

Re: Non smart stuff.

I figured if there all gona mess me over anyhow at least give me some entertainment value for my vote. Unless of...

Re: Non smart stuff.
Almost everything in my place is dumb and not smart. all appliances is dumb, my tv is dumb, ok the coffee maker has a digital screen but it's pretty dumb also. I use my blue ray player to convert my tv into a smart one, it has everything in it, also just got a tivo which has some smarter things in i...

Re: The direction I dream for Linux
I use both proprietary software and open software. I have no issues paying for software if it can do what I need it to do and there is no open versions available to do the same job. As far as graphic programs go I have always liked and chosen open over proprietary just cause I like the fact I can ad...

Re: Stupid Questions... just for fun
Plug in some 3d goggles and a Michael Jackson glove with 3 points you can use as a 3d mouse and dance around the room surfing the net. Don't forget to run VLC with some half decent tunes. Maybe "I'm Bad" seems to be appropriate with the glove and goggles for geeks on crack. Orrr just cut a hole in y...

Re: How do I mess with someone on my wireless network?
Many (most?) street people have mental illnesses and are not capable of living the way we might want them to. I usually introduce myself, shake their hand, chat with them for a few minutes, then give them a few bucks and move on. I also have the addresses and phone numbers of all the shelters and s...

Re: How do I mess with someone on my wireless network?
You won't like this: or he'll punch you and you'll get sympathy from your family, who'll then see him for what he is... win win ;) I'm one of the few that has been in this situation more then a few times and dealt with it, my own harsh way by showing them the door. But it's not easy. I love your lo...

Re: How do I mess with someone on my wireless network?
To be honest if it was me and the freeloader refused to move I would cut off the internet and tell him to go get a job to pay for his own, I would also give a moving date to urge him along and if it goes past this I would have a discussion how it's cruel to use a family member, if that did not work,...
