I have the same problem,
I tried to change the server.. from ftp.de.debian... to ftp.us.debian and ftp.fr.debian..
all the same..

thanks for the post, worked like a charm on my computer. Now running lmde 64bit with encrypted lvm.
Not having an encrypted lvm, was the one reason for me not installing LMDE.
Additionally I did an apt-get dist-upgrade while in chroot, so I would have the
latest kernel, libre-office ...
