Here is how I contribute Linux Mint.

I presently have Linux Mint running on all but 2 computers in the house. Both my wife and daughter have Mint 10 on their desktops, I use Mint 9 on most of my computers. I've been waiting for the xfce edition. I will be adding the kde edition next.

I hope this image isn't too big.

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Thanks, mmesantos1.

You do some interesting work with your desktops. It's a great place for ideas.
I could never make a Gnome or KDE desktop to be comfortable for me though. I guess that's why I prefer the lighter environments and window manager.

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

I like it. But I couldn't find openbox edition on the LM9 download page. There is no LM9 openbox edition. It was a little joke i made to see if anyone would notice :) It's really LM9 fluxbox edition. I was thinking that, but I still don't doubt it. My Linux Mint 9 with e16 and Chrome theme. This is...

Helios Project.

I'm not sure of where to post this. I have read that the Linux Mint community has been supportive of this project. I recently (today) received this in my news reader and thought I should share this. I will be doing what I can to support them in this endeavor. Most likely will burn Linux Mint 9 Main ...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Linux Mint 9 OpenBox Edition (just released) Personally I'm liking this edition a lot so far, still think there's a few improvements/fixes to be made to it, but other than that i think its another great Mint edition. The Tint2 panel colors just don't seem to match exactly with the OpenBox colors an...

Re: Choosing the right Mint flavor: DEs and updates?

I mentioned I mix and match my desktop environments earlier. I felted that I should explain that a little bit. My base install is Mint 9 XFCE, but I downloaded from the repository the packages from different desktops that I like using. I don't download from Ubuntu or Debian. For that matter if it's ...

Re: Choosing the right Mint flavor: DEs and updates?

I prefer Mint 9 XFCE as my base, then I downloaded and installed the packages from other desktops environments that I like. As far the environments you can mix and match to find what is right for you. Of all the distribution I prefer Mint. I have XFCE as my base, I use Pcmanfm as my primary file man...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Wallfisher great desktop. Where did you get the wallpaper? Honestly, I really don't remember. I think it was from a phase when I was a member of reddit and I surfed through the section on wallpapers. I have it on file though. I can upload to my Picasa account in my signature for you to download. I ...

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Something that I've been working on for my educational purposes. I'm still a newbie even after being a Linux user for over 4 years now. This is on a Compaq Presario 1670 laptop, factory specs max the ram out at 192 mb, it has a 4 gb hd, cd drive and pcmia card slot for networking. None of my Linux M...

Re: Continuing my Linux education. (SOLVED)

Your suggestions are valid and appreciated. Thanks again for the link to Vincent's tutorial. I now have a Minty Debian LXDE on a 4.3 GB hd with 1.2 GB of free space. My next one to learn to configure will be a Debian e16 environment since Debian doesn't have e17 in their repository. I have tested Bo...

Re: Continuing my Linux education. (SOLVED)

Actually, Vincent's tutorial works. I only had to make minor changes to how I did the repository update. I am guessing this is different from user to user, machine to machine. This is an excellent way to get Mint on older computers which are of low resources. My Compaq Presario 1670 is maxed out wit...

Re: Continuing my Linux education.

It presently has Debian installed. I started with just the base install for a laptop. Now I want to Mintify it. Is it possible to add Mint packages to a base Debian install using aptitude? Thanks, in advance for your suggestions. BTW I even tried to install Mint 7, and that didn't work. Well, it is...

Continuing my Linux education. (SOLVED)

I have became a big fan of Linux Mint, presently have 5 computers loaded with Mint 9 Xfce and/or 10 Gnome for a total of 7 running Mint installs. Unfortunately, I recently had to give up my Compaq Presario 1800 to my brother who happens to prefer the MS branded OS (I haven't been able to understand ...

Re: 3com 3c900 combo aka boomerang??

Googled and found this site. It's an online manual from Dell on the 3Com 3C900. http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/network/58094/ This implies that the unit is at least 12 years old. I don't know if it is compatible with any truly modern equipment. Thanks for the reply, I have been to a few Dell...

3com 3c900 combo aka boomerang?? (SOLVED)

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

Yesterday I reworked the desktop of my LM10 on my Gateway, this morning I did some file back-up on it. I have 2 HDD's in it. 1 with LM10 XFCE and the other with LM9 XFCE. I'm still trying to find my perfect desktop setup. I like a steampunk backgrounds, and prefer the XFCE desktop environment. This ...

I've reworked my desktop a bit. LM 10 with XFCE, AWN at the top, sysmonitor from screenlets package. Changed background. I use Dolphin or Konqueror as my file manager.

Re: Unofficial Post Your Linux Mint Desktop Thread

I'm a fan of Linux Mint 9 XFCE. This is my recent recycled Dell 2400 with AWN and sysmonitor in the screenlets package. A medieval steampunk navel air support for background.
