Re: Installing lightDM on xfce

I've been using lightdm on LMDE XFCE for several months. I don't recall any particular problems either with installation or in getting it to work. You can make it the default display manager by editing the file /etc/X11/default-display-manager. If I remember correctly, dpkg prompted me to choose a d...

Re: Mint Debian Xfce in Virtualbox

Sorry you had so much trouble and I won't beat a dead horse if you've given up on it. But I did go back through the install procedure to see what might have been the problem. I THINK where you may have gone wrong is after creating the root partition with gparted you then have to assign it to the / m...

Re: Mint Debian Xfce in Virtualbox

Vincent is correct. The problem is the virtual disk you created in vbox doesn't have a partiton table. Create one with the live DVD with fdisk or gparted before you start the install.

Re: sudo + nopasswd

Try placing the user ALL=NOPASSWD: ALL entry at the end of the /etc/sudoers file. Your user name is probably in a group entry {%sudo) which is taking precedence if it is being read last in sudoers.

Re: LMDE BREAKAGES - read here first - Update 2 july 2011

I've noticed workarounds for Nvidia, and was wondering if anyone has come up with one for fglrx/Catalyst drivers yet. One other quick question - does the breakage occur with all kernels, or does it only affect the 2.6.39 variety? It took several months for ATI to come out with a Catalyst driver tha...
