Re: VPN (PPTP) and Cinnamon

Sorry I didn't think this was something that needed a guide, as I thought it was just me being unobservant. Just go into the menu and go into Preferences, there you will find a program named Network Connections where you will be able to edit your VPN connections. To run it from the terminal just typ...

Re: Problems with booting (Linux Mint 15 on Sony Vaio Pro 13

I've managed to fix the problem by myself :D To fix the problem the kernel have to be edited a bit. To do this press " e " when entering grub. Boot the slow boot problem and the problem with not booting at all is fixed by this method. Then add this to the line starting with linux : libata....

Re: Problems with booting (Linux Mint 15 on Sony Vaio Pro 13

Hi again! I now see that I was a little bit too frustrated to explain myself when I posted yesterday  . And since I'm not an native English speaker I now see that it is really difficult to decode my message. The problem is that the computer will rarely boot and will give the message in the pic...

Problems with booting (Linux Mint 15 on Sony Vaio Pro 13)

Hi! I've been working for two days now without really arriving anywhere which is starting to get really frustrating. The problem is that I've just got my Sony Vaio Pro 13 that I hoped to use for my studies. But unfortunately I can't use it for anything right now as neither Ubuntu 13.10 or Linux Mint...

Re: Will not connect to vpn after upgrading to UP5

Huh.. When I started my computer today the vpn magically worked again, really weird (it have been working all the while on my netbook with Peppermint OS). But now no window shows up when I'm clicking on the "network settings" button under the network icon on the panel. But I still find net...

Re: Will not connect to vpn after upgrading to UP5

I see that this is a problem in Ubuntu 12.04 and Linux Mint 13 as well (tried to install them yesterday to see if they solved the problem). I've tried to reinstall pptp-linux and network-manager-pptp without any results. This is the guide provided by my university: http://www.umb.no/computer-service...

Will not connect to vpn after upgrading to UP5

The title says it all. I've been trying to connect to my university's vpn (pptp) for hours without any results. It just keeps telling me that it fails to connect. I've tried to add the vpn again, and also adding another vpn just to check if the server was down, but I couldn't connect with that eithe...

VPN (PPTP) and Cinnamon

I'm trying to set up a VPN connection to my university.
But can't seem to find the settings in Cinnamon?
I have booth network-manager and network-manager-pptp installed, but I cant seem to find the settings in the menus.
Is Cinnamon using another network manager?

Re: Howto install Oracle's Java on LMDE/Debian

The most recent version of the sun-java6 packages in the non-free repos is 6-26. That one is ancient and full of security holes. Using it is not a good idea. Ok, thanks :) I also forgot to mention that the non-free repository of debian conflicts with the linux mint repositories so it has to be quot...

Re: Howto install Oracle's Java on LMDE/Debian

It's also possible to install sun-java by adding debian's non-free repositories (these are the ones for stable using a Norwegian mirror): deb http://ftp.no.debian.org/debian/ squeeze non-free deb-src http://ftp.no.debian.org/debian/ squeeze non-free Edit: It seems like the java version in the debian...

Re: UPDATE PACK 4 FEEDBACK THREAD

I've installed cinnamon and UP4, and everything seems to work fine, except for a problem with the network manager in cinnamon (the problem doesn't exist in gnome classic). When I tried to log onto my wireless network I typed the network password wrong, but it never let me type in the password again ...

Re: No updates?

I'm wondering: If you are concerned with security because of the lack of updates (I know update pack 4 is coming, but I'm expecting there will be a while for update pack 5) is it possible to change the security repo to testing while using linux mint repos for multimedia? Or should you use either tes...
