I am using LMDE RC (pinned to latest updates) and today I decided to restart computer after few days and after restart, my computer could connect only to google. Ubuntu became real pain in the ass. With preupgrade to 11.04 alpha2 (yeah, I know it's not advised for daily work) I completely broke my system and so I started looking for something new. KDE isn't really an option (don't like it :D), XFCE is to plain for my taste, so I tested few gnome distros. LMD...

Hey! So, I am a physicist using LMDE & gedit with LaTeX plugin to write scientific articles and I came upon one problem. When I try to compile .tex format article with .eps format images (graphs) into PDF, I get some error in log files -> "uknown format .eps". Compiling .tex->.ps works...

I used package manager to install: linux-headers-2.6.39-686-pae and linux-image-2.6.39-686-pae (not 100% sure, because I am at the job where I use M$), then I updated GRUB with "sudo update-grub". If you installed everything OK and updated grub, on next restart you can choose 686 kernel. T...

This problem is solved by replacing kernel 486 with 686....now both cores were detected and everything works fine!
And warning, I ran benchmarks and realized that performance was now much better.

I decided to make new thead with a better title so anyone with the same problem will find it. I just clean installed new LMDE RC snapshot and I found out that only one processor core is detected. So, I would like to know how to fix this problem or you can just tell me if my processor is still workin...
