Openbox Session in Cinnamon Edition: Mystery Startup Programs
Hello. I'm trying to figure out why my Cinnamon startup programs are launching on my Openbox session when my startup files make no mention of it. The files in my /etc/xdg/openbox are fully commented out and gnome-settings-daemon isn't a thing in Cinnamon, as far as I can tell, so I don't understand ...

Can't acquire flatpak-spawn [SOLVED]
I'm trying to use some linting packages for a flatpak distro of the Atom text editor. It can't spawn the needed processes because it is running in a flatpak sandbox, so I'm tyring to give it access via flatpak-spawn. Trouble is that for some reason I have no access to this flatpak command. It was re...

Finding Linux Mint 19.3 Grub Theme Resources
My goal is to find resources (how-to pages, manuals, examples, apps etc.) that will help me mod the new LM19.3 grub theme. I'd like to change the background, resolution, fonts, and icons. All that I've been able to find are instructions on how to make the text bigger and that "it's more complic...

Re: How is the position of the Cinnamon main menu edited?
Thanks! That was driving me bonkers.
There must be a way to move the menu left and right as well, or at least a way to fake it, since the gap to the left of the menu differs widely between many themes. I'll leave this open to collect more suggestions.

How is the position of the Cinnamon main menu edited?
I'm creating themes for Cinnamon, and I've found documentation concerning editing cinnamon.css to be sparse. I know it must be possible to shift the menu left, right, up, and down, in relation to the panel, as I see themes with various positions for the menu, but I either can't find the right select...

Re: Linux Mint 18 codenamed “Sarah”
Taking into account that there's no announcement as of this post, the primary mirror's sig file isn't working. Gpg gives me a "Can't check signature: public key not found" error, even though the same public key is supposedly used for the beta. I've imported the Mint ISO public key, and the...

Re: rWall 3.5 "Akira" Wallpaper Randomizer
I've added an automatic feature to the --filter option. Now the script automatically recognizes what your monitor's aspect ratio is and will apply an appropriate wallpaper, like so: rwall.py --filter auto This feature requires the python3-tk package. Feedback is appreciated. Have fun! rWall git repo

Re: rWall 3.5 "Akira" Wallpaper Randomizer
Note: if you are familiar with git repos, you won't need to read this. I removed the archive in favor of the git repo , which is easier to maintain. You can either download the whole repo and unzip it (last option on the bottom left), or you can go to Source, click rwal.py, then right-click the Raw ...

rWall v3.5n: more commandline stability add --verbose option to replace announce (I know: duh) add --filter option (takes precedence over rwall.conf filter setting) add --sync option to synchronize from your last use of rWall, if that was in another desktop environment on the same machine and user. ...

Re: rWall 3.5 "Akira" Wallpaper Randomizer
rWall 3.5m: I got it to work with Windows7, since a lot of people like me still dual boot for various reasons. I finally bothered with a git repo. I'm new to git, so if things are weird, you've been warned. Git repo UPDATE: I've confirmed that it works on Windows 8 and 10. Now, if only I had a Mac ...

Re: rWall 3.5 "Akira" Wallpaper Randomizer
rWall 3.5j: Image Filter Improvement s I boosted the performance of the image filter, by more than double. I did this by dropping floats for fractions in the filtering loop. I also improved the readability of the filter options. Now, instead of having to understand that "1.78" is the same...

Re: rWall 3.5 "Akira" Wallpaper Randomizer
rWall 3.5h I've solved the aspect ratio issue. You no longer have to repeatedly hit next/previous to advance the wallpaper. If you decide to use aspect ratio filtering, very large image collections could take longer to build the list. I built a 3,755 image list from a database of 11,500 images in ar...

Re: rWall 3.5 "Akira" Wallpaper Randomizer
I added a few bug fixes to the program. There was a quoting error in the gnome3 command string. I also included the Pillow library's Image.py as a dependency for aspect ratio filtering. The script checks for dependencies now. You need to run the following line, if the script tells you to install dep...

rWall 3.5 "Akira" Wallpaper Randomizer
Hey, folks! I just finished the latest version of my wallpaper randomizer. The changes are to make it more user-friendly and capable. I have added support for a configuration file, so you no longer need to navigate the script to preset your favorite image directories. In addition to KDE4 & 5, Xf...

I have updated the script for KDE5. It still works with the 4.x branch. Remember to install and setup feh if you are using either Openbox or another environment not mentioned in the help. Be happy!

Re: rWall 3.0 "Scratchy", Now in Python!
Hello rockhazard, I have some questions I would like you to answer, if you don't mind. First question: Why did you choose python 3 over python 2.7? While both are supported just fine in Linux, python 2.7 is the "standard" so to speak. That said, I actually prefer python 3 over python 2.7 ...
