How to change program panel icons in Cinnamon?

Hello guys I have a very small problem that is driving me insane (ocd). I am using Linux Mint 15 Cinnamon. When I launch a certain program from wine, the icon that gets displayed on the panel is that of the Wine Windows Program Loader and not the icon of the actual program. I also dual boot with Xub...

Re: Can older kernel be installed in Mint 13

Older kernel installs well, everything seems to work except the ati fglrx drivers. As soon as I install them I can no longer boot. So I have not yet been able to test if opening my game will crash the computer. Any idea how to get fglrx drivers to work? the kernel version I tried is 3.0.4

Re: Can older kernel be installed in Mint 13

But that's what I mean, 3.0.12 does not seem to be the same as 3.0.0-12 or is it? Hmm maybe I just have to try them all.

Re: Can older kernel be installed in Mint 13

Thanks for your reply wyrdoak. So what I see from that thread is that yes it is possible to install an older Kernel the same way I would install a newer one. The question still remains though, where do I get kernel 3.0.0-12-generic that came with Mint 12? I don't see it listed on that thread they gi...

Can older kernel be installed in Mint 13

Hello guys here I am with another newbie question which I hope is not such a stupid one. Since the release of Mint 13 I have been battling with a problem I have where my computer completely crashes when opening a specific game I play and sometimes with other graphics intensive programs. At first I t...

A Future Pilot wrote:To revert back, just remove the launchpad section from /etc/apt/preferences file that you added earlier. (You can also remove the ppa if you really want to, but you don't have to.)

Then run an update, and it'll be back to stable :)
Thanks! :)

Cinnamon Panel Applets don't refresh

Hello guys, For some time this has been bothering me but I have been putting it in the back burner since the system freeze issue was a much bigger concern but now since that has been fixed I can worry about this. My problem is that the applets in my cinnamon panel do not refresh. This is noticeable ...

Re: [SOLVED] error: hd0 out of disk Please Help

Out of curiousity I went through that script you asked earlier to see if there was any difference with then and now and this is what I found: in the previous output these lines are missing: Drive: sdb _____________________________________________________________________ Disk /dev/sdb: 160.0 GB, 1600...

Re: error: hd0 out of disk Please Help

I have fixed the errors that prompted this thread. First I installed boot-repair and then ran it and chose the option that says "ATA disk support (solves the [out-of-disk] error). After doing that I rebooted and got a nasty error saying grub rescue> or something of the sort, I was afraid I had ruine...

Re: error: hd0 out of disk Please Help

Sorry, bad news. The SMART data is showing a lot of uncorrectable disk errors, unfortunately, the last one within the last 2 hours. And a high "raw read error rate". I now suspect this is the problem. The boot delays are being caused by read retries. If you haven't already done so, back up all your...

Re: error: hd0 out of disk Please Help

I got it to boot after following some suggestions on similar threads to reinstall grub. It still hangs there however not forever, it will boot after a good minute or so. Here is the output on the command you suggested: geo@geo-pc ~ $ sudo smartctl -a /dev/sda smartctl 5.41 2011-06-09 r3365 [i686-lin...

Ah. Their instructions are out of date. Try sudo bash ~/Desktop/bootinfoscript Thank you that worked. Here is the output. Re: error: hd0 out of disk Please Help

@mintybits, at the risk of sounding like a major noob, the script is not working for me following the instructions on the download page. I get: geo@geo-pc ~ $ sudo bash ~/Desktop/bootinfoscript.sh [sudo] password for geo: bash: /home/geo/Desktop/bootinfoscript.sh: No such file or directory I unzippe...
