Re: UPS problem: COMMLOST with APC CS650 and gapcmon
... I forget where I found that. fwiw, the clue to setting UPS USB cable connects should be there in the apcupsd.conf file (~45 lines down from the top): # UPSTYPE DEVICE Description ... # # usb <BLANK> Most new UPSes are USB. A blank DEVICE # setting enables autodetection, which is # the best choi...

Re: Linux Mint 19 wakes up printer on boot
It's Linux Mint 19 Xfce, upgraded from a Beta install following the instructions on the website. Haven't tested a fresh install. I have three machines running LM 19 MATE 64-bit upgraded from the Beta. But. My experience with Xfce is very limited. FWIW I'm not sure a fresh install would help with th...

Re: Linux Mint 19 wakes up printer on boot
There were two entries for the printer in question in the Printers applet, neither were 'Shared', but I unchecked 'Enabled' from both, however it didn't seem to help. The printer actually gets woken up as soon as Mint reaches the login screen, before logging in. Oh, well You know, it might be helpf...

Re: Linux Mint 19 wakes up printer on boot
Every time I boot a Mint 19 installation it wakes up the printer connected to my network. Doesn't really do any harm, but there are a few mechanical parts that click and whirr, would like to avoid the wear and tear (it's not even my printer). Would be nice if there was a fix for this. Open 'Adminis...

I am getting an error when starting palemoon with firejail 0.9.54: ... Hey @all41 , I.e., that ' No D-BUS daemon running ' message? Funny thing. I'm seeing that message when launching firejailed 'palemoon', too. But ONLY on 1 of four machines all running Linux Mint 18.3 MATE 64-bit and firejail 0.9...

@martywd Thanks for the detailed report! Does sync work with Vivaldi if you use firejail --ignore=nodbus vivaldi-stable ? Yes! 'vivaldi-stable' syncing does work using your suggested command. Re: tomcat8 not installed, but software updater wants to install it
Although update-manager labelled the update as 'tomcat8', the package that was updated was in fact ' libservlet3.1-java', version 8.0.32-1ubuntu1.5 . At least that's the package that was updated on my LM machines ... Package: libservlet3.1-java State: installed Automatically installed: no Version: 8...

Re: Kernel updates
And one more question: I can see a package in synaptic called linux-libc-dev. Its version is 4.4.0-77.98 and there's a 4.4.0-79.100 update. Shouldn't that be version 4.10.0-22, which is my updated kernel? Isn't that package updated along with the kernel? Is it safe to remove it? (I guess not? :shoc...

Re: Kernel updates
I've updated the kernel of Cinnamon Mint 18.1 to 4.10.0-22 through "View" > "Linux kernel" in the update manager, with no issues so far. I have a couple of questions: 1. Is there a way that I'm notified for newer than the default 4.4 kernel through the update manager? Now I only...

Re: Hotsync a Palm E2 to Cinnamon 17.3?
.... So the 'visor' module is NOT NEEDED for your Palm E2 to 'Sync' thus there is no need for you to mess with that in the future. And in the 'usb:' config in 'jpilot' it will not matter which 'Sync', 'jpilot' icon or device, you start first. Either way, the 'Sync' should work. . I had tried 'usb:'...
