Re: Is the Grub Customizer a no, no?

@Pjotr
Good article, thanks.

your page on fixing Grub appears to be pretty comprehensive, I will keep it for reference.

perhaps it will help me get my BSD recognized in Grub.

Re: Is the Grub Customizer a no, no? [yes]

Folks: afford some respect for Daniel (the creator, and he is in the room). The tool may no longer be in active development, but He has Not disappeared. = opinion = It was great tool, that I believe worked great. I believe that was because we were working with more simple OSs, no UEFI, and maybe Gru...

Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition 3

what do I tell them now? I don't get why suddenly LMDE is a problem for you. ⋅ LMDE 1 (let's call it that for clarity) reached end of life 2 years ago and had been a semi-rolling release before that. ⋅ LMDE 2 is stable and secure and continues to get updates till mid this year w...

Understood. Mate 1.18 is not yet Stable, so not in D9.

Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition 3

I suppose that would be Debian 8 testing. I prefer the Debian 9 Mate version (1.16), zero bugs and full features.
Not sure what you would get mixing LMDE with D9...
Better to stick with Stable I think.

Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition 3

Missing features since the May 1.18 "update" have been patched by Mate months ago. Drag/drop to panel is most important for me, but updated LMDE2 still is broken. Fresh install and it works. This was reported long ago but apparently ignored by Mint/Ubuntu. We would like to resume using LM...

Re: MATE 1.18 updates

I am happy to see that one big problem is fixed, the file/folder launchers https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-panel/pull/663 https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-panel/issues/590 I wonder how long it will be before we get updated? FYI for the Mint Team and Clem ========================= Update: a...

Re: [URGENT] When is Linux Mint Stretch/Betsy out?

Not very likely to be named LMDE 3 for the next release, and instead will be come back to true versionless like Tumbleweed, Arch, Gentoo etc. :) That's not happening. I do not understand the Mint versions of LMDE. By definition, a rolling release has no versions. Arch puts out a new ISO every month...

Re: How to disable auto-maximize?

different desktops have different tools... If you are using Mate go to System> Preferences > Look and Feel> Windows. The tab "Placement" has "window snapping"... uncheck "enable side by side tiling" I know that is weird and illogical, but it works. --- That is one of th...

Re: boot-repair

I have only seen people at their wits end bringing their computer to a repair shop from UEFI. I have multi-boot UEFI installs on 3 different computers with little hassle. It just takes learning what they do/how they work. I did TV repair work for years, everybody said the OSD, on screen display, wa...

Re: LMDE 2 to LMDE 3

Debian 9 Mate non-free is great. Not much tweaking to get all that I want, except Google Earth is not happening yet.
Recommend.

Yes, it is not as easy to install, but not that difficult with the live version.

PS: Mint would do well to use that as a base for LMDE next time
