Re: error when manually "refreshing" update manager

As far I know, the Medibuntu repository is dead. I'd say you just remove it from you repo list.

You just need to restore GRUB2 (the loader). There are many articles on this topic, including this one.

Re: alternative of logout

Have you tried just restarting Cinnamon? There should be an option for that in the default extension. Also, <Alt+F2, R> should do the same.

Re: Multiple JDKs in system

Being a Java developer, and always having multiple JDKs installed, I can tell you that if you configured things properly, there is absolutely no reason to experience crashes or whatnot.

Re: Vivaldi KDE tablet back on track?

While I don't particularly care for KDE, I do want me a Linux tablet! With any DE.
Hmmm, would I be able to put any distro on it?

Re: Ubuntu Certified Hardware

Without knowing exactly what "Ubuntu Certified Hardware" is, I can only say that if Ubuntu runs well on it, so will Mint in 99% of the cases (the 1% being the different DE which could in theory have problems with your particular graphics card).

Re: Getdeb replacement?

Thanks for trying to help, appreciated, but... the listed sites just show how much PlayDeb will be missed, as all I can find there are links to GetDeb and outdated Ubuntu repos, nothing else...
The good news is that Steam is coming.

Re: Getdeb replacement?

I can find them, no problem. It's just that I couldn't care less about compiling them from sources and manually updating. The Hedgewars maker was kind enough to rehost the debs (still, no PPA or anything, so no auto-updates), but I have no clue where to get Alien Arena or other games... PlayDeb wasn...

Re: [Gaming] Linux MInt using "Steam."

Anyone tried running Trine 2: Goblin Menace natively? Or Wine?
I'm really interested in it since Trine 2 provided tons of fun already, but I played it on Win and want to switch if possible.

You got as far as my knowledge reaches :( Let's hope someone else chips in...
In the meantime, there seems to be more people trying the same thing. This post in particular seems to say how to at least check if modeswitch worked.

Re: T-Mobile Wireless Pointer

Do you mean the 3G modem? If so, find out which model it is. It is usually a Huawei modem, but find out the exact model.
Most of these modems can be configured to work with some effort. When you know the model, try Googling, I've seen instructions many times.

Re: Passport Photo Software

Printing depends on DPI, so when resizing you have to match its value to the one that you'll print with. It's not easy to get it right if you're completely unfamiliar with the concept, so it's best if you do some reading on the subject.

Re: How do you install a tar or tar/gz file?

@brojrnmu He extracted the files already, he just didn't know what to do with them. @OP That depends on what is inside the archive. If it is some installation script, you just need to run it, if it is just sources, the procedure can be tricky. Normally, in that case, you have to execute: ./configure...

Re: url (bookmark) organizer for Linux ?

I presume it will be able to launch the browser normally. But you'll really have to try... At least it's easy, just install Wine and launch the organizer from your existing install. If that doesn't work, you can try installing it in Wine.
