De nada. Welcome to the boards! You may wish to add "solved" or somesuch to the original post's subject.

Re: tasty menu?

In the top right corner (when you have the tasty menu open), there's a diagonal arrow. Single click that, and see if that fixes it.

Re: Which version should i dl

Download Mint Elyssa main edition . Free edition only has open source software, which is more ideologically pure, but harder to use (at first). Mint XFCE and KDE are community editions; nothing wrong with that (Mint KDE CE is my personal favorite), but they're not the main release; to start off, I t...

Re: changing desktop environments (gnome/kde)

For what it's worth (probably not much :P ), Gnome, KDE, and XFCE are desktop environments("DEs"), which use the Metacity, KWin, and Xfwm window managers ("WMs"), respectively. Although one can install another DE or WM in a given distribution/edition, the effect is a lot rougher ...

Interesting link, StevOz. Would you please link to the underlying article? (The chart's got my interest piqued).

Re: Lost the Start button

Yay! I use Mint KDE, so I wasn't sure if what would have worked for me would work for you, but I guess that's moot. I don't mean to be the old man, barking about forum etiquette, but if you please, edit your original post title to include "solved" or "fixed" in it. Much more impo...

I may be wrong, but it looks to me as though ADRIANE is KNOPPIX-specific. These two posts (one, two) on the Ubuntu forums may steer you to Mint-compatible applications.

Re: Do you update level 4 and level 5 packages?

I relate to the impulse to be 100% up-to-date (in Windows, it's a must), but it's different in Linux. In Mint (Husse or others, correct me if I'm wrong), anything that's necessary from a security viewpoint will be released as a level 1 or 2 update. These packages were released by Ubuntu. So there mu...

Re: Linux Mint Main Edition and Light - What's the difference?

Light contains free software only: http://www.linuxmint.com/rel_elyssa_light.php. If you're looking for something lighter, keep an eye on the development of Mint XFCE Community Edition (soon to be released in beta).

Re: Urgent Update needed for DNS problem

You can use the DNS tester to the right, about 1/2-way down ("Check my DNS") to see.

I'm using Darnya KCE, up-to-date, and I passed.

Re: Window Open Position and Size

My frustration with Gnome was the inability to make an application showing on multiple desktops persistent. I think Firefox's window was prone to random placement in Mint Darnya, but most other apps I used were OK. It was suggested that I try devilspie (which allows one to edit window placement in G...

Re: The MASTER KDE CE update thread!

I replied "horsefeathers" simply because, at heart, I took your post as criticizing boo for not working (without pay, in his spare time) fast enough. A more specific reply to your post would have fallen dangerously close either to invective or to "My distro is better than your distro&...

Re: Laptop With Issues.

First - I have to edit the kernel at each login to read ACPI=off or it won't even login, it just freezes. (How to I make it leave ACPI=off all the time?) Open a terminal gksu gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst Add ACPI=off to the end of the regular and recovery mode kernel lines Save Exit Note: gksu is like...

Re: Use Mepis installer instead of Ubiquity?

My whole suggestion may well be an object lesson in my signature line. My complaint about Ubiquity is that it puts swap to the far right and doesn't automatically create a separate /home (also, the Intrepid version of it has the buggy timezone map), while DrakInstall's and Mepis's installer's defaul...

Re: Dual booting with Mandriva

Assuming that Mint now controls grub and that you can access the Mandriva partitions from Mint: 1) Boot into Mint 2) Navigate to the Mandriva partition 3) Open /boot/grub/menu.lst there 4) Copy the "main" Mandriva entry (regular boot vs troubleshooting) 5) In your Mint partition, gksu gedi...
