Ok. At least that tweak should sort any issues with requiring user intervention in the future.

Re: Auto updates not working on Linux Mint 19
Ok, I see. But it was confusing when auto updates was checked and the update manager was showing so many updates available for a long time.
I'll try that tweak. What title should I give the new file in '/etc/apt/apt.conf.d'?
Thank you gm10.

Re: Auto updates not working on Linux Mint 19
The Update Manager checks 10 minutes after booting and then every 2 hours after that with defaults. In the past, I left the vm running for at least a half hour and the number of updates awaiting never changed. :? You two are talking about different things. The 10 minutes are for the GUI application...

Re: Auto updates not working on Linux Mint 19
The auto updater seems very finicky. You just need to wait (up to 2 hours if default settings are used) for the Update Manager to check again (or run apt update in the terminal) and the check mark will eventually come back. Hi MrEen. I never use a VM for anywhere near 2 hours. What if someone who I...

Re: Auto updates not working on Linux Mint 19
The file, 'mintupdate.log' exists and it has content. I may have manually ran Mint Update Manager before, I can't remember. I ran the cron job manually and it seemed to do nothing (actually the update number dropped from 64 to 61 and it returned to the command prompt). That log file is only written...

Re: Auto updates not working on Linux Mint 19
Can you post the output of cat /var/log/mintupdate.log Also what does apt update report? I'm wondering if this issue might have impacted you as there was a grub update back around the 24/7/18 which required the user to make a choice that wasn't just yes or no and hence would not be handled well by ...

Re: Auto updates not working on Linux Mint 19
Check /var/log/mintupdate.log and if that is empty/doesn't exist check syslog for the mintupdate cron job, something might prevent it from running. You can try to run it manually to see what happens: sudo /etc/cron.daily/mintupdate Hi gm10. The file, 'mintupdate.log' exists and it has content. I ma...

[Solved] Auto updates not working on Linux Mint 19
Hi. Automatic updates are not working on Linux Mint 19. I have LM 19 x64 MATE installed in AQEMU. I've the box checked (attached image). As seen, 61 updates were waiting from about a week ago. I have not run timeshift as I've limited space - I presume timeshift is not needed to auto update. Thank yo...

Re: Black block under notification area panel icons.
I've found that reducing the panel size to about 22 pixels sorts this issue.

Re: Linux Mint 17.3 Caja hangs sometimes
Just to clarify what I meant by hangs -- that is the cursor turns into the rotating circle thing - not the actual desktop freezes. Oh wow, so this whole issue was purely a cosmetic mouse cursor issue? No, it's not a cursor issue. I mean when Caja is busy the cursor does that rotating circle animati...

Re: 17.3 Caja hangs sometimes.
Is your crontab -e file otherwise not empty? I have 2 entries in that. The entries auto delete files older than x many days. Sounds extremely fishy. Would you mind posting those 2 lines and then experimenting with an edited blank file? I've been using those 2 lines long before there were issue with...

Re: 17.3 Caja hangs sometimes.
I would ask, "When did this start happening? Was it fairly recent? Was there an upgrade(s) which happened around the time this problem began?" Also, there is the option of re-installing. If you do re-install, be sure to use the backup-manager first, to make a list of all your software sel...
