Re: Help with RO and Wine

The black screen in wine games doesn't mean that the resolution is wrong. It could be a lot of different things and depends of the game, wine version, windows components that game maybe needs and therefore must be installed etc. WineHQ database is the place in which you can find reports if the game ...

Re: gm10's Linux Mint Tools PPA

I also have found a bug in mintsources. The "remove" button for removing a ppa doesn't work. Running mintsources from terminal I get this error when I'm trying to remove a ppa: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/linuxmint/mintSources/mintSources.py", line 1660, in remove_ppa yes_no=Tr...

Re: qshutdown doesn't do anything after countdown is over - any alternatives?

Yad is a tool to display graphical windows and menus in bash scripts, isn't supposed to running directly but from inside scripts. So it's normal that you cannot find it in applications menu and also normal to get a window with OK/Cancel buttons only if you run it from terminal. You need to run the s...

Re: Is there a way to connect two PCs using USB ports? (Solved)

This should work on windows too. There you need to find the drivers for the smartphone to be recognised(if isn't happen automatic) and then it will work the same way. This is a standard future on smartphones. Here is a guide I found about this after a quick search: http://www.stevesandroidguide.com/...

Re: Is there a way to connect two PCs using USB ports? (Solved)

Since you talk about smartphone and android os, you just need to install mtp-tools(maybe installed already) and to connect the phone with usb cable. Then on the phone you choose mtp file transfer and then the phone's storage will be available in the file manager to copy/delete/rename etc files and f...

Re: qshutdown doesn't do anything after countdown is over - any alternatives?

Hmm, no luck here, I've only been a Linux user for a half year and I still have trouble from time to time. When I try to open yad, there's only an empty dialog box with "Cancel" and "OK", console says "Gtk-Message: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged." And I couldn't op...

Re: qshutdown doesn't do anything after countdown is over - any alternatives?

Yes, you must change the "systemctl poweroff" with "systemctl suspend", or "systemctl hybrid-sleep". You can also try the python application I mentioned above, which have the option to choose. Extract the zip file where you want and then open a terminal inside this directory and run it with: python3...

Re: qshutdown doesn't do anything after countdown is over - any alternatives?

Hi everyone, I'm using Mint KDE and I'm searching for a super simple timer/scheduler (like SwitchOff for Windows, that was perfect) to hibernate my laptop every night because I have a habit of falling asleep while using it and there's no point in leaving it switched on all night. I've been trying t...

Re: Should I update to Linux Kernel 5.X

I have already install 5.1, after I read about ukuu(an application for installing-update ubuntu kernels), and works fine on my machine so far. I don't believe that can harm to install the latest kernels if you have also the latest officially supported installed. It's very easy to boot to it from gru...

Re: python3 app doesn't autostart in mate

Again, I found the problem minutes after created the thread  I opended the .desktop file and there wasn't an entry for Name and Description, but only Name[el] and Description[el](my native language translated entries). I didn't think that this was a problem because as I wrote above this file w...

[SOLVED]python3 app doesn't autostart in mate

I've created a python3 application which I use for a long time without problems. I already created an autostart entry which run without problems in cinnamon and also in xfce, plasma which I have tested before, in arch linux. I just installed mate yesterday, and even there is an entry for this applic...

Re: g15daemon doesn't start at boot

Since there' s no answer yet and I found a solution I answer myself. I found some info here about this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/g15daemon/+bug/1441365 So, based on above, I removed the g15daemon file from /etc/init.d and I created a g15daemon.service file in /lib/systemd/system...

Re: my 2 problems with mint

I don't know about the beeps, but as for the display, I think that this happens because you have 2 monitors(1 the laptop's broken lcd and the other the external). Seems that the broken screen used as default by the system. So you need a way to change this. I think that if you move the mouse pointer ...
