Improve Bluetooth Audio Experience

Hi, I do not know if there is a developers' Launchpad for Feature Request like we used to have in Ubuntu, so hopefully some Linux Mint devs get to read this little note of mine. I use Bluetooth headset a lot to listen to music and make Skype calls. However, 1. The Bluetooth profile does NOT switch a...

I cannot find Skype anywhere in the tray too, although it is running. I am running Cinnamon, so is this a BUG with Cinnamon?

Re: How to install LM 12 KDE & Gnome

Hi, I am interested in this too... to be able to choose Linux Mint GNOME/MATE/Cinnamon OR Linux Mint KDE. But will not installing "kubuntu-desktop" give us KUBUNTU instead of Linux Mint KDE Edition? Please clarify. Thanks, Rykel

Re: [Solved] Printing: Working with GMD

I am running Linux Mint 12 and when I try to install the Gnome-Manual-Duplex .deb file, I get Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: python-gnome2-desktop|python-gnomeapplet I have already installed psutils and file. When can this basic functionality be built right into GNOME or CUPS? I am using Brot...

Re: JRE is gone from the plugins list in firefox

Hi, pardon my sidetrack... but I am interested to have ONLY OpenJDK 7 JRE on my Linux Mint 12 system, but sudo apt-get install openjdk-7-jre insists on installing OpenJDK 6. If I uninstall OpenJDK 6, Mint then insists on installing Sun Java. Is there NO WAY to remove Sun Java and OpenJDK 6 totally l...

Re: No mp4 with VLC in Mint 12

I am unable to play sound from a .mp4 movie file at all, whether it is Movie Player Totem, VLC or GNOME MPlayer.

My Linux Mint 12 is vanilla install and sound works for all other applications.

Default Software Sources (Other Software)

Hi, can you please show me the Software Sources (Other Software) List from a brand new installation of Linux Mint 12?

I am trying to recall if "Canonical Partners" is part of the original list.

Thanks for helping!

Re: [SOLVED] Bus Chinese Pinyin Input

Thanks for the note! 1. Can this entire procedure be automatically set up through installing Chinese in Language Support? (Ubuntu does it already) 2. Is there a Linux Mint "Launchpad" like Ubuntu does, so that feature requests (such as this automated process) can be posted for developers t...

Re: Needing translations for im-switch package.

There are more Chinese than any other race in the world so I have always thought that Chinese should be included alongside English (International Language) in Linux by default.

Google Translate showed "Input Method Switcher" as "输入法切换器" which is quite accurate.

Re: how to type chinese in Linuxmint6

I am already using Linux Mint 12 and still, Chinese input is NOT available through Language Support. This is perplexing because Language Support came from Ubuntu, and in Ubuntu, once I have installed "Chinese (Simplified)" via Language Support, the "keybord" icon will appear in t...

Re: Skype or Camera problem?

This *might* work~

1. Edit Skype binary -
sudo gedit /usr/local/bin/skype

2. Add the following lines in the blank text -
#!/bin/bash
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libv4l/v4l1compat.so /usr/bin/skype

3. Make it executable -
sudo chmod a+x /usr/local/bin/skype

Re: Video Cam with Skype

I am running Linux Mint 12 with Cinnamon desktop and indeed, this Skype video not working problem still plagues this distro. Do we have a Launchpad here in Mint where Mint devs can hear us and possibly do something about Skype on Linux Mint? Thanks for listening!

Re: A New Main User Account

maybe its better for you to try the software first, then report the result here. The program was safe, as long as you choose the Dist option. Try it, make a live USB using the ISO created (or using unetbootin to boot directly from ISO on the hdd) , then report here.. I would be glad to do so. Howev...

Can remastersys NOT restore my personal config The Dist option was to make an ISO with just the program, not the config. Linux Mint 12 is stuck with Firefox 8. The current (stable) version is Firefox 9. Using the "firefox-stable" PPA will result in a "404: File Not Found" error. Using the "firefox-next" PPA will install Firefox 10, NOT Firefox 9. Using the "Aurora" PPA will end ...

Does LM12 Need Ubuntu Repositories?

Hi, when I freshly installed Linux Mint 12, I did not take a look at the Software Sources. Now, after installing GNOME from gnome.org and Ubuntu Software Center, I find my Mint system cluttered with Ubuntu and GNOME stuff - even Unity! These came directly from the Ubuntu repositories listed in Other...
