Re: Multilple file and desktop problems

I had files in multiple places and I sorted them out. Now its a completely new experience. It takes hours but they need to be sorted out anyway... Make a clean install but first check md5 sum. Now, I use latest kubuntu and KDE is stable now. It should not give you such problems. Try qmmp if amarok i...

Re: The unofficial LMDE XFCE

In the past years I have always used Xfburn even in my gnome and later in my mate editions. It just does what I need and I had better experiences with it than with the other three burners (brasero, gnomebaker, k3b).

Re: The unofficial LMDE XFCE

Has anybody used deadbeef musicplayer? I noticed that manjaro xfce using it so I just installed it on my Mate. It looks nice, seems very fast and lightweight. It can handle large music collection. Well, my collection is not so big and I haven't tested it for weeks so I can not say that it is the one...

Re: Has anybody tried Cylon Linux?

I do use 2-3 application for one task but having 5 browsers are too much even for me. Especially when my favourite ones are not included... I would also need to add MATE or XFCE. So there is no gain for me installing Cylon.

Re: The unofficial LMDE XFCE

I will also keep an eye on this topic. I am not a Debian user but this discussion got me interested. I like XFCE and I have a netbook which I want to keep cool. So my points would be: One aspect of Mint's user friendliness is that they include the programs that most people use (except for truetype c...

Re: Linux Mint 13 "Maya" released!

@Tomtom I found workaround for this problem in my LM12 - adding one line to /etc/rc.local before exit 0. echo 4 > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness Number is power of brightness from 0 to 10 (only whole numbers). PS. I will wait for 13.1 :} . Now It doesn't work for me. I opened configura...

Re: Linux Mint 13 "Maya" released!

I installed 64bit MATE. So far so good. It looks like the best distro since LM10 main. I tried at least 15 editions and none of them were on the level of LM10. It's a pity that so many people had to worked so hard to reach the LM10 gnome quality. But now with Maya I am relived. Fingers crossed. Ever...

Re: Mint 13 XFCE

Thanks for this poll. I know I can try Xubuntu or LMDX or install XFCE via synaptic on any Mint edition. I tried them all and I keep coming back to Ubuntu based Mint editions. LXDE for the moment, but since things got changed I tried a dozen of distros and not really satisfied. I just would like to ...

Re: Panel File Manager Icon

I think it's the icon for gnome file manager Nautilus but used for PCmanFM this case. I googled the word nautilus and found photos immediately that explain this icon.

Re: What is your preferred web browser?

I use mainly Chromium. The only thing I don't know how to download youtube videos with it. In Win7 I can even use a download manager (orbit) for this but still, it works only with Firefox. So I keep Firefox on the side as well.

Re: Brief Mint 11 Review and suggestions for Mint 12

I tried xfburn, brasero, gnomebaker, k3b. All worked fine except gnomebaker. The only time I had a bad DVD when I used gnomebaker. I just use xfburn because for putting some files on dvd I don't need a sophisticated program. I agree that audacious is what most people need. VLC is a must and SMplayer...

I decided that I will download the final 64bit version whatever it may be. I will give it a try anyway.

Re: Kataya - DEAD - REJECTED - A note to the dev team.

I worry about the other editions as well. It's not just KDE. My favorite xfce had been switched to debian so I went with gnome main edition but I had to go back to LM10 since LM11 had some issues for me. Fluxbox and LXDE are nice but too basic for my laptop and I am not really fan of PCmanFM (I like...

Re: Fix for compiz in Mint 11 Katya

Thanks very much! I will try this. I still had these problems with logging in with gnome no effect option. And the whole desktop felt unstable so I just installed XFCE on the top which feels rock solid. But I should have waited for your post. :)

Re: Katya vs Julia - any advantages?

There is a serious bug in the kernel that is in Katya and all the newest versions of distros that affects many (but not all) computers (netbook, laptops, even desktops)...so run the live dvd for awhile first if you are considering installing it...If the bug affects your system you may get a jump as...
