Connecting to my LAN Hub

I have a Bell 2000 hub that has two usb ports. On the Bell support site are instructions for Mac and Windows and no Linux. How can I connect to the usb drive I have plugged into the hub. The Mac and PC instructions are so simple. I hope the same can be said for linux. I'm using the Cinammon edition ...

linux mint 18 and crashplan

I just installed Linux mint 18 xfce. After installing the latest version of crashplan, crashplan launches but no windows show up to log into crashplan. All I see is the crashplan icon in my panel. That's it. I tried modifying the run file as described on the crashplan support page. Doesn't work. Wha...

Re: Play selected tracks only, in audio player

If for example I have a playlist in audacious that has 500 songs in it. Let's say I want to select three tracks from the playlist and just listen to those I can do that in audacious?

I'm going to try quod libet as suggested and see if I am able to do this.

Play selected tracks only, in audio player

I am looking for an audio player that will allow me to select specific songs from a playlist and play only those ones. I don't think Clementine does this. I tried Deadbeef and Audacious and can't find a way to select tracks on the fly from a playlist and play just those files. Any ideas that do work...

A big desktop clock

I have Mint 17.2 Mate installed on my laptop. I'm looking for a large digital or analog clock that I can use so that my screen looks like a giant clock. I used to use the GLText module in the screensaver. It worked fine. Even though I can install this in Mate, I still haven't found a way to change t...

Re: Middle mouse button and workspaces

I switched from Ubuntu mate to mint 17.1 mate edition.

You mention fluxbox. Is there a mint distro with fluxbox or do I have to create a new fluxbox session?

Middle mouse button and workspaces

I am using Linux Mint 17.1 XFCE edition. One thing I really like is when I middle mouse click on the desktop I am presented with a window listing my workspaces. How can I do the same things in other distros that don't have this feature that I use on occassion?

I have created a custom action that works fine with one radio station entry. audacious /home/randy/Music/radio/CFRA.m3u I hav several other stations I...

Re: Problems using arecord in Cron

It seems to be Ubuntu distros using xfce. I tried lxle which uses lxde as well as Crunchbang 11 which uses xfce but is Debian based. Just a thought . ☺

Problems using arecord in Cron

I just installed the new Mint 17.1 xfce edition on my Dell 3000. I ran all the updates and upgrades as well. I have had this problem with other distros that seem to be using xfce. I may be wrong here but so far, lxde distros like Zorin Lite work fine. Here is my issue. Sample code I use that works f...

Re: The right distro for my inlaws

I was thinking of installing that as well. Would it be advisable to install the RC that is currently available or wait for the official release?

Does this version have Netflix pre-installed? If not is it pretty straight forward installing it in Mint?

The right distro for my inlaws

My sister's mother in law is fed up with her Windows computer so I suggested she try Linux. She is in her mid-seventies, so I am looking for a distro that is easy to maintain, understand and use. One thing she wants to be able to do is access Netflix. I would really appreciate feedback on which dist...

Re: Creating a new session

The Openbox website has an excellent wiki explaining all aspects of this wonderful Linux gem. I'll check it out again. There is so much you can do with it. It's so flexible. By the way, I'm now in Mint MATE and just installed Cinnamon-meta so when I restart I can open a Cinammon session. Should I go...

Re: Creating a new session

Ya I noticed that there are some options at the log in screen. I tried Openbox and it worked fine. I just have to figure out how to configure the /home/randy/.config/openbox/autostart file to my liking so that when I go into the Openbox session, things will load properly. I installed Nitrogen which ...

Re: Creating a new session

Thanks for the info!! So if I choose one of the mint-meta packages like MATE, then I will be using MATE, but what if I just want to use something basic like Openbox,tin2 and ROX. I just installed all of these but am not sure what to do next.

Thanks again!! Much appreciated as always :)

Creating a new session

I like using Tint2, Rox and Openbox. They are fast and light. At the moment I am using Mint 16 xfce and was wondering if it is possible to create a new session so that when I boot into Mint, I would be given a choice to select the standard Mint 16 session or one using Rox, Openbox and Tint2 for exam...
