Re: CUPS server error when adding network printer
While it's on the wifi, get its internal IP address, and see if CUPS lets you add a printer using an IP address. See if it detects that printer this way instead. This is the way it was done, before wireless-at-home became common. Yes, I am dating myself  I tried that and got the same results ...

Re: 3.19 kernel makes lots of things not work
That's why it's best to stick with a working kernel. :) You could possibly compare the differences between kernels and fix the problems yourself, but it's a whole lot simpler to find a working kernel and not mess with it. Out of curiosity, why 3,19? I was just wanted to try it to see if my laptop w...

3.19 kernel makes lots of things not work
When I use the 3,19 kernel, my screen backlight settings, hardware acceleration for cinnamon, my wireless mouse, and a few other things stop working. I don't have this problem on any other kernel (3.13, 3.16, 4.0, & 4.2).
I have a HP Pavilion 17-f000 Notebook.

Fixing brightness issue for for comps with intel backlights
This guide is to help you get your brightness settings working. If you installed Linux Mint and the brightness keys, applet, and manually setting the brightness from a terminal fail to do anything, you probably have an intel backlight. To check if you do, enter this in a terminal: ls /sys/class/back...

Re: "wobbly windows" only works sometimes when arranging win
I noticed it only wobbles if I maximize first, and then immediately use 'grid' bindkeys. If I wait until after the window is done wobbling from maximizing, then windows do not wobble with 'grid' bindkeys. With snap now uninstalled I wonder are there any other plugins that could be interfering. It s...

Re: "wobbly windows" only works sometimes with "grid" arrang
It seems to work fine for me. Make sure you don't have Snapping Windows and Wobbly Windows both on since Wobby Windows already has snapping. Also make sure you don't conflicting key bindings. Normally when one turns on the Grid plugin, you get these warning: The new value for the key binding for the...

[Solved] Help making USB LM17 boot in UEFI mode
[Problems] When I startup my laptop and select boot options, select the entry for my USB, there appears briefly a black screen for a second that states "secure boot not detected", and then goes to the grub command line. Can someone help me in getting it to work by using Disks or Gparted i...

Re: Waking Hibernate - soft lockup - CPU# stuck for x second
It only happens on the Linux 3.8.0.29 kernel when my ram usage is around more than 40% 1GiB of my 5.7 Gib total available. On the 3.8.0.19 kernel, this doesn't happen and my system is noticeably faster. Also where do I report linux kernel bugs?

All applets that require running have this problem in cinnamon 1.8.
I filed a bug report on launchpad about it.
