Hi guys, I had the same problem, not being able to change the brightness. I did what you described, which brought me a little further, but still not to my full desire ;p I am now able to adjust the brightness, but it wont change until I restart my laptop. I would try nomodeset and acpi=off

Look for the option to custom the boot options via live menu.

I have tried it several times, performance setting is only showing on 1 core. All others remain on demand.

I just not not see a way to use this to control each core and each thread.

Pity , would be nice to have it in one neat spot.

Only OS needs to be on primary

sorry, should have typed back. Job turned out GREAT and as planed on my side. Dual boot win vista with Linux mint. (Vista was a license already installed on the PC) Retrofit to Linux mint 11 lol. Funny how Linux always runs better then its intended windows counterpart. Client I hear is raving happy....
