Linux Mint 20.3
I have uninstalled Firefox, but am still getting "English language Packs for Firefox " update entries in the Update Manager. How do I get rid of this?
Thanks, Garvan

Re: Using Extrenal USB Hard Drives
I prefer to use Fat32 or ntfs formatted external hard disks so I can access the files from a Windows Computer. My ntfs backup disk shows up as FUSE in Linux. Fat32 has limits on maximum file size and maximum partition size, so the FUSE disk is more flexible.

Re: Read Only external USB disk
Thanks to both replies. I am working in Linux, and when you right click on the deskop icon for the windows drive, and select format, the default application is the USB Disk Formatter. This wants to format the full drive, not just the partition you right clicked, which is not what I want. Is this a d...

SOLVED: Read Only external USB disk
My duel boot laptop died with a bad keyboard and dead battery, so I took out the hard disk and put it a USB external drive. I have full access to the linux part of the drive, but the windows part is read only. It would appear, from what I can see, that windows was not fully shutdown when I salvaged ...

Re: IP infected with spambot
I will get help from my service provider to change the router port settings. I appear to be locked out of some settings, so there may be different password levels or something. Thanks for your advice.

Re: IP infected with spambot
I check my IP address my typing "my ip" into google search. For the last two weeks it has been <removed>. I know it was different in the past from the wifi router logs but it has not changed in the last two weeks while I have been monitoring this problem. When I look up this address in Pro...

IP infected with spambot
Hi, I have been bothered with having to prove I am a human filling out captchas when I access many web sites recently and they are getting more and more difficult to complete. Maybe its my old eyes. Turns out my IP address is listed on Project Honey Pot, http://www.projecthoneypot.org/ where it repo...

Re: Mint reporting print job complete, but no print
In my case if there is something wrong when I try to print, the print jobs stay in the Q until I turn my computer off and on again, so this may explain all your test pages printing out unexpectedly at a later time. Fortunately I can see my printer so I get feedback immediately when it does not print...

Re: Grub messes up Windows 7 boot screen, but boots okay
I have the same problem dual booting Windows 10, but I assumed it was a hardware issue so I did not look for a solution here. This is not normally a problem, but window updates or installs which require interaction can fail because you cant see the display. Following Derek_S's directions above, I se...

Re: Upgrading Win7 to Win10 on a dual-boot installation
... Questions - is there a risk this will affect the LM installation? If so, what precautions should I take in advance? (I'm assuming that data backup and a standby 17.2 live CD or stick are advisable) The free WIn10 download is an upgrade to Win7, so it will install on the same partition as Win7, ...

Hi, It is more than one month since your last post, so you may have found a solution, but I am sure others with the same problem and Ralink corp RT3290 Wireless 802.11n 1T/1R PCIe will find this if they search. These is a patched Linux 17 compatible driver available from this link: http://www.dailyl...

Re: A+ for Mint 17.2: No Zeitgeist Installed
I think the "Recent Files" list from the main Menu is kept by Zeitgeist. And "libzeitgeist-2.0-0 library to access Zeitgeist - shared library" is installed in my version of Mint 17.2. Perhaps you removed it before and forgot?

Re: VirtualBox in Mint 17.2
Yes, that's where I got it. I think it's my BIOS that is the culprit. :( Is there a configuration file that can force the 64-bit operation? The Virtualbox manual says you need hardware virtualization to run a 64-bit OS. See: https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch03.html#intro-64bitguests There is no ...

Re: Install Khmer Unicode for use on LibreOffice??
Hi, I can type Khmer in LibreOffice (just checked). First of all I installed the Khmer keyboard layout for all Mint. Menu->Preferences->Keyboard->keyboard layouts Select the + sign to add the Khmer (Cambodian) keyboard layout. An Icon will appear in the bottom panel of Mint with the country flag of...

Re: Adding a second monitor using DVI-D port
There is no brand name on the cable, and the packaging is long gone. I was shopping yesterday and picked up a HDMI to DVI-D connection for $5. Using the HDMI cable from my media player and this new connection it works perfectly. So it must have been some issue with the cable, although it is strange ...

No luck.
I tried these and other variations I found through Googling but I still get a blank screen on the external monitor.
