I've never use caja but I think your problem is with "-" sudo is a bash command to give the second command root privileges. leave out the dash and just type "sudo caja"

Linux comes with python but it doesn't come with IDLE. You'll have to install IDLE before you can use it.

Re: Windows won't boot after restore

You'll probably have to use the windows system repair disk to make a new master boot record then install a new grub loader after that.

Re: Dual booting Win7 & Mint, now Win7 won't boot

you might have a hardware or a BIOS issue. It shouldn't take 4 min to get to the grub loader. Make sure you don't have any SD cards or usb sticks in your computer that can make it boot slow. I was wonder if you have tried to boot windows in safe mode. Also when you tried to boot windows recovery was...

Re: Mint Over Ubuntu -> No Bootload

It should install a new grub when you install 14. If you just installed it and don't have anything on it yet it might be easiest to re install 14. Then make sure the install installs grub.

you are probably having a graphics issue witch is causing it to fail to load the Desktop Enviroment. I would try the xfce version of Mint 14.

Re: Wired Connection Established, but cannot access Internet

Are you entering the passwords in a browser? If so then the system wouldn't store the passwords. I would use lastpass to store the passwords and set it to auto login.

Re: Installing Mint 14 xfce

You have to make an Image Cd out of the iso file. use a program like inforecorder to burn a bootable CD. After burning the CD make sure your BIOS is set to boot off of the CD. then boot the CD and select what partition to install Linux to.

Re: Google Chrome will not open

Chrome may have crashed but is still open.
run the "top" command to see if chrome is running
you can stop it with the "kill (process ID)"

or just reboot.

Check out /etc/fstab and verify the uid's with your actual partition uid's and if they don't match edit fstab so they match.

Re: Deciding on partion layout for new install

I only use swap for suspend mode so It needs to be big enough to load the current running processes. So I make it as big as what I have for RAM.

Re: Windows no longer boots

I always use Gparted live while messing with Windows. After you get Window working again you will have to free one partition. Only four primary partitions are allowed so you will have to make one of them an extended partition. and then add logical partition inside of the extended.
