Can't read shudown message
I just install "Mint 17" and really like it. When I shutdown from desktop the screen shifts to terminal black, and then a appx two line message displays so fast I'm unable to read it before the computer shuts down. I have tried the "scrol lock & pause-break keys to no avail. I'm n...

Re: brother mfc-7460 scanner permission error using xsane
Dave, I have exact same problem. Xsane scans from root but not from user.
Yes. I think it is a permission problem, but have not been able to fix.

Re: lm14 mint upon boot opens my usb mem stick into desktop
When grub boots from my hd into lm14 mate, the desktop comes up fine, but it also opens (executes) a memory stick that I keep in a usb port, which I delete before using my computer. All of my previous Mint distros never did this. I can find no fix in Control Center, startup applications or desktop s...

Re: Linux Mint Debian 201109 (Gnome & Xfce) released!
Tacit: What was your method for speed comparison figures between Ubuntu 11 & LMDE? I expressed my opinion concerning the naming of LMDE. "Mint" is a derivative of Ubuntu, and known world-wide to be the most user-friendly Linux OS, which LMDE is not TODAY.

Re: Linux Mint Debian 201109 (Gnome & Xfce) released!
It is doing "Mint" dis-service by using it's name in front of 201109 Debian destro. Over years, Mint has earned a glowing reputation, as a ready to use-out of the box, user-friendly operating system. Using the "Mint" logo to promote your Debian derivative is mis-leading. Respectf...

Re: Mint Debian 201109 & NVIDIA drvrs
Rhodry; I'm writing this from a 201109 live disk. My 201109 64 that has the video problems is still on my parittion 5. What I did was to use synaptic to install "xserver-xorg-videoi-nvidia 275.09.07-5" which is a binary. Now when I boot and select; Mint Debian 201109 64 it boots into a bla...

The default 201109 NVIDIA "neo" driver is too slow when using Googleearth. I have tried quite a few times to install the NVIDIA 280.13 driver, which only gives me a blank screen with a pulsating hyphen at top of screen. No terminal. Other than that 201109-64 is a wonderful OS, which I'm us...
