Re: [Gaming] Linux MInt using "Steam."
played TF2 via steam on Linux Mint 14 Cinnamon just to see if it worked - it did +1 to that :D I tried it this weekend and it was running smooth on my Intel HD3000 Graphics. I've got HD3000 too and was wondering if anything works well with it but if TF2 runs well then that's a good sign. Wonder if ...

Running ubiquity -b will install Mint without a bootloader.

Re: Why do new people give up on Linux?
Just popular enough that there ARE users (and users that know their stuff) but not enough users that developers have to spend all their time catering to end-users. More users would mean more developers. More developers would mean bugs were fixed faster. Less bugs would mean less updates. Maybe you ...

I think Startup Disk Creator should work but I always use UNetbootin. Live USB runs and installs faster than Live CD/DVD.

In KWalletManager there is an option 'Enable KDE wallet subsystem'. Just uncheck it and apply.odo5435 wrote:How?Matti L wrote:You can turn Kwallet off. That's what I did.

You can turn Kwallet off. That's what I did. Don't know what that secret service thing you're talking about is.

Re: problem displaying on second monitor from laptop
Can you drag your browser window to the other screen? If you can then it is working like it should. Normal behavior is to show the desktop only on the primary monitor, but you can change it to mirrored in the settings. I'm talking about Cinnamon by the way. Don't know how MATE or some other DE works.

Re: No Internet in Virtual Box
I think the reason connecting to the internet in VirtualBox doesn't work in Ubuntu 12.04 is described here: https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=49519 Using NAT you can change the guest DNS to whatever you want (eg, Google Public DNS: 8.8.8.8 ) and you should be able to surf the net...

Hot corner switches workspaces by default so using ctrl+alt+left or right does the trick.

Something like this would be nice:

Or just a percentage somewhere.

Re: Linuxmint 13 release date?
Why is it that nobody can yet figure out a way to entirely duplicate all the goodies that we came to love in Gnome 2 (fully user configurable features like Panels, 3D Cairo Dock, 3D rotating cube and all that other good stuff). That was awesome, and convinced me to completely dump Window$ in favor ...

Use Disk Usage Analyzer (in accessories) to see where are the largest folders. Maybe some logs are running wild.

Re: KDE 4.8
Did you do this?
colyn wrote:You have to enable Kubuntu backports..
Code: Select all
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
then open update manager and it will list the updates which you can then install..Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update
Customizations should be retained..
Re: KDE 4.8
I had a problem with OpenGL crashing KWin (or something) all the time after installing Mint 12 KDE, but after adding Kubuntu backports and updating to 4.8 everything's been working fine.

Re: Ubuntu One Can't sync folders
Looks like this bug here. Possible fix by saxsux (#4):
Scrolling down there's also that you need to remove credentials from Gnome key ring.Deleting ~/.config/ubuntuone and ~/.local/share/ubuntuone and restarting my computer seems to have sorted it out.
