Re: application rule based firewall, any recommendations?

I can not believe what I am reading. Oh "Linux is very safe" "you only need to block inbound".......really, is this forum full of obtuse new Linux users....really? Let's have a little security lesson. I'll use that wonderful BSD UNIX base OS X. A good example that effect a mass number of users that ...

Re: power manager issues

Has anyone had some real resolution with this issue? I checked the links but I am on the release version, no special tweeks or software installs yet and my battery life is horrible. The same machine ran Linux Mint 11 with no issues. I upgraded because I like the new interface and it was going to hel...

Re: All the fuss about Opera?

Cookies? I think we don't have much choice. Ghostery extension might help you with your Opera security concerns. https://addons.opera.com/en/addons/extensions/details/ghostery/0.9.3/?display=en I am familiar with Ghostery which is ok. I use several extensions, adblock, ghostery, no script. I still ...

I think you missed the Grand daddy of them all. http://www.quakelive.com/#!home

I only tried it when it first was released. It was ok but since this post I have taken another look at it.

Re: All the fuss about Opera?

Every time I use Opera I seem to like it. I just can seem to wrap my arms around it. I really like the way Firefox handles cookies but I dislike what Firefox has become. Currently I am using Chromium and I dislike the way it handles cookies. Could any Opera users offer some tweaking tips? I really w...

Re: My own distro (of sorts)

I have read plenty of posts from Clem and I think this guys are awesome and would take this more as a compliment than anything else. These guys here at Linux Mint make the best distro for the desktop hands down imho (I finally got my wife of Mac). My home server runs Linux Mint also on a Mac Pro. As...

Re: Another MS rant thread

Outdated and unimportant information. Really while some people are still obsessed with MS, Apple is installing software on MAC and Windows that scans your entire computer and sends the information back to them. Linux users rejoice. Try using Little Snitch on a mac...beware though, after you look up ...

Is Linux Socialistic? lol Linux is "Worldistic"!! I am an American living in Europe now for many years. However, I constantly hear from the local population what America is like even though they have not spent one day there or at best were just tourists passing through. Linux is much like America. P...

It was a good game some years ago. Everytime I think about playing again I keep remembering how limited your characters "roaming" abality was implemented. It was a fun game with relaxing music. I hope GW2 will be good.

Hi there, Loving Lisa (x64) for all its worth  I have a IdeaPad Y710 and found that my WIFI drivers were not supported so I installed Wicd which after using rfkill list and unblock got me up and running. Now when I hibernate or suspend Lisa when it returns the WIFI seems totally unrecovera...

Hi everyone, I'm working with Linux Mint for quite some time now and wanted to install it on my Acer Extensa 5220. I just can't get any wireless Internet connection. I installed it using a wired Network Connection. Everything went fine including all updates. I installed / activated the additional p...

Re: Linux Mint on Android Tablet

As I understand it tablets are a totally different architecture, so no normal distros or compiled binaries will work on it. So to get a tablet compatible version of an OS they'd need tablets to test and build on. Given that the Mint team is very small, it may be a good idea if it wasn't further dil...
