Re: Grub 2 prompt only at boot
Were you dual-booting before, as in having 2 different Linuxes, or Linux and WIndows? If so, did you get rid of the other OS?

Re: Mint 12 splashscreen?
I know that in mint 12 they disabled the splash screen and i have tried using plymouth and splashy however neither will bring back the splash screen and i dont like the entire black screen while booting so any ideas/comments would be great. Re: Office Word 2007
I beg to differ. Librewriter 3.4.4 saves .docx files just fine. I have a few that I have to edit on a semi-regular basis, and as long as you tell it to keep the current format, or whatever the exact wording is, it'll save the .docx file without incident.gretta wrote:LibreWriter can't save .docx files.

Panels not responding
I decided to revisit LMDE. After wrangling with the gstreamer update, I installed Bleachbit and Unetbootin. One of them wanted(needed?) syslinux and extlinux. Who am I to argue? :) Anyway, after everything was installed, the panels disappeared because of (I'm guessing here) either syslinux or extlin...

Re: LMDE on a DVDless Server
I've got a computer in my home that I want to put LMDE on but it has no DVD drive, and LMDE has no cd edition. I've tried a few things - I couldn't figure out how to do a grub network boot, and booting the LMDE dvd iso from grub2 as a loopback device resulted in a failed livecd boot. So I'm left wi...

Re: Main menu items won't start [alacarte]
Hi all! I recently got the Humble Indie Bundle 4, and as you may know you, many times you don't get installers, just a tar ball which you extract. Problem is that it doesn't make those games appear in the main menu, so I added them with alacarte. But when I launch them from the main menu, I just ge...

i dont know if furious iso would actually do what you're looking for, but it might be the most likely one if any would.

Re: LM12 Standard Account - can't add search engine to Firef
In my LM12 Administrator account it was straightforward to add Google search engine to Firefox. In my wife's Standard account it just doesn't seem to work - the 'Add Google' message doesn't appear in the drop-down after following the manage search engine instructions. Is this a known issue, or am I...

Re: Chromium and Chrome: Web browser, or spyware?
A friend sent 3 lines of code to be done in a terminal that supposedly does away with non-volatile cookie tracking. I'll post it here: First, snuff the two invisible directory trees where LSOs reside: rm -rf ~/.adobe && rm -rf ~/.macromedia Then add symbolic links to /dev/null, throwing away all inp...

Hello, I wanted to see if anyone else is having issue with Skype screen sharing. When I select full screen sharing my screen goes to a dark grey with the red box around the edges of my screen. Re: libstdc++ in Linux Mint 11
I purchased the Humble Indie Bundle #4, but then realised that I was unable to install the .deb and the .tar.gz files of Bit.Trip Runner. I believe that this is because it needs the latest libstdc++. Is there some way that this can be achieved on Linux Mint 11 Katya? On Synaptic, I noticed that the...

Re: HOWTO disable touchpad on Mint-12
I did not find a "dconf-editor" (with a 'D') anywhere. You may have to install it. I can't remember if it was there after the initial install. Once the app is running, negotiate your way to org, then gnome, then settings-daemon, then peripherals (clicking the little black arrow beside each one). Wh...
