Re: [Solved] How Can I Access USB Drive Attached To Router ??

FOLLOW UP: Decided to run a live disk of Ubuntu Mate and discovered that the network share drive was automatically found. So then ran a live disk of Linux Mint Mate and discovered that the network share drive was automatically found. Then wondered what those two live disks had in common and differed...

Re: [Solved] How Can I Access USB Drive Attached To Router ??

Only if you are interested: The Linux equivalent to a Windows "network drive map" is a mount.cifs mount. Since this is Linux not Windows it's set up manually: Automount Samba Shares with CIFS: Thank you for replying !!! All that is new to my skill set but worthy of an afternoon project wh...

Re: How Can I Access USB Drive Attached To Router ??

Well figured out how to locate and mount the network shared drive by using ctrl+L in the file manager. Not a permanent mount but able to access the share drive ... until next reboot anyway. As for the pascalopitz/unofficial-sonos-controller-for-linux ... I downloaded and installed a previous version...

[Solved ... mostly] How Can I Access USB Drive Attached To Router ??

Hi ... I've been running Linux Mint as my main desktop since about 2009 and joined this forum in 2011. In all that time I have NEVER before set up access to a shared network drive !!! The USB drive connected to my router is formatted FAT32 and contains music files. I have a SONOS sound system and us...

Feature I'd Like To See In Mint (Only thing I miss from Windows)

The only thing I miss from Windows is the ability to cast image AND sound to a smart TV (ROKU TV in my case) ... with just one click !!! I think Windows uses Miracast to accomplish this feature. I've seen threads explaining how some have installed Miracast in Linux but it involves compiling code and...

Re: Screen Tearing...

Others with more experience than myself have chimed in, so I will just relate my personal and limited experience. Years ago I had a screen tearing issue while using Intel graphics. I think that's what you're using (?) Anyway, I found a thread from 2016 with a solution from @Portreve that worked for ...

Re: Double volume icons in Mate 20.1?

OOPS ... Mint default panel just works and is fine for me. Click-Click and done.
The OP, somelurker, may have a default panel too ya know. Maybe you're a special case. ;)
... but your experience is well worth mentioning and I wasn't aware my easy solution might negatively affect some.

Re: Double volume icons in Mate 20.1?

Happens from time to time. Usually seems to be associated with some tweak I made or a system update of some sort. Only happens after a system restart. I hardly ever power down, so might happen occasionally on power up ... dunno. Seems to have been happening now and then for a couple of mint distro r...

Re: Why can't I disable System Reports?

Nope, once removed from Startup Applications and restart, System Reports does not appear in the system tray. I don't see it in System Monitor > (All) Processes either ... at least not listed as "System Reports" or by the command "mintreport-tray" anyway. Guess it's just an anomal...

Re: Linux Mint 20.1 “Ulyssa” MATE – BETA Release

Maybe I misunderstand the meaning of "bug" but I don't think personal opinions of what should be or shouldn't be Mint is a bug. Admittedly I did not watch the entire hour and a half video and skipped around for about 5 minutes but I didn't see any mention of a bug. ... Maybe nothing about ...

Re: Touchpad not working on Dell XPS

Someone with more experience than myself and know what they're talking about will chime in. Interesting that the touchpad works from live usb but not otherwise. Maybe boot USB and run a terminal command to check and see what touchpad drive is being used when boot from USB, then run a terminal comman...

Re: "system-config-samba" GUI not available. Need Samba share Help

Thanks altair4 !!! :) I have NO idea which SMB Sonos is. Alls I can tell you is that with Mint Mate 19.3 I had everything working flawlessly. Sonos ... Samba ... shared Music in my home folder. Sonos does not have a controller app for Linux nor intends to develop one. I've been using an unoffical-so...
