Re: Cannot load webpages via wireless connection

1) Copy that script into a text file and save it, with name of fixmint13.sh, to your home folder. You want to start copying with line: #!/bin/bash and then end with line: reboot 2) Open a console window / terminal. It should open in your home folder. If you type ls and hit enter you should see the ...

Re: Linux Mint 9 "Isadora" RC released!

This is the best ever Mint release, but I have two somewhat major concerns. First, I'd like to find out how to change the boot up resolution to my native 1680x1050 (Mint's 'Startup Manager' does not allow me to do that and the highest resolution available there is 1600x1200, which for some reason d...

Issues with Hard Drives and Nautilus

Hi I have a HDD SATA-300 500GB 16MB Samsung with LM 64 bit installed. I also have just purchased a HDD SATA-300 1TB 64MB Western Digital which I just formated (ext4) and mounted. Often when I am transferring files from the WD to the Samsung Nautilus will slow down to a crawl and when the transfer is...

Re: Remote assistance

There is some information here though some of it is a little out dated I feel.

I gave it quite a few tries but was never able to view my friends set with it. May have been other issues involved though apart from Remote Desktop.

Re: No application shown in the mintMenu

Why would you want to deselect Admin and Preferences from the menu? Just curious as I use these entries all the time.
Personally I find they clutter the menu. I rarely need to access anything in either and when I do I can easily via the Control centre.

Re: No application shown in the mintMenu

Is this happening to everyone or just a few of us? ie when you remove Admin and Preferences from the Mintmenu all the applications stop appearing about 10 minutes later.

Re: Editing files in X File Explorer

But just a clarification. Maybe for use them you must right-click on the file and select "Edit" (for xfw) or "View" (for xfv and, on an image, xfi) With e.g a .txt file, no problem, you can just left-click on it and xfw will open. Idem here with e.g an OpenOffice file: left-clic...

Re: Editing files in X File Explorer

I can see the preferences set up as you described with XFW as the default text editor but they don't seem to effect the opening of a file. One has to enter gedit (for text based files) and tell it to remember your choice. From then on the gedit text editor will open the file for you. Does Mint have ...

Re: No application shown in the mintMenu

This is still happening to me also. With Administrations and preferences deselected under Edit menu one soon finds that not a single application shows on the Mintmenu until they are enabled again. This has happened on every version including the latest.

Re: Editing files in X File Explorer

Sorry, I am confused now. Should I be able to open Source.list via Xfe by double clicking on it or must I use the gedit option?

If I do double click then the same box appears as my original post which gets me nowhere.

Thanks

Add this search to FF and you can then search and add thousands of different engines that suit your fancy including more versions of Google than you can point a stick at: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6887 You can even add a search engine that will search the Mint Forum direct from ...
