Re: Battery Indicator not showing updated time or percentage
That's interesting. I just put in a pair of IKEA's newer LADDA NiMH cells. They measure 1.27v on my meter... a little lower than normal cells (though NiMH are more constant voltage output, it's a bit lower than low drain voltage on Alkalines) and in Solaar they register 70% charged. Mint is telling ...

Re: Remember window settings on close for next open?
Hi "Seano123", I am not using Linux Mint Mate edition, but I think there are two options. Control Center>Personal>Windows>Placement>(check box) center new windows http://alt.os.linux.mint.narkive.com/YftJ2Vth/window-placement-in-mint-17-2-mate or install "gDevilspie" from the So...

To be honest, Miro pretty much missed the mark anyway - there were better ways of getting there... I toyed with it as an alternative to feed readers at one point.

Re: Linux Mint 18 Soundconverter Is Broken - Gtk-WARNING - TypeError 'GLocalFile'
SoundKonverter indeed works - but it's rather nasty looking compared to SoundConverter... (e.g. simple slider for aac quality - no 'high' or 'insane' quality, just numbers default 100 (slider 0 to 500). I guess I'll do some listening tests tomorrow... so thanks for that man. But sadly no Soundconver...

Re: Linux Mint 18 Soundconverter Is Broken - Gtk-WARNING - TypeError 'GLocalFile'
Thank you guys. I had some other issues building, not the least of which being my wife buying an iphone and wanting to synchronise... so I went ahead and installed Windows 10. I wrestled with it for a full week, resisting the temptation to boot Linux... but I'm back. Sadly - with a fresh install I m...

Re: Error adding a ppa via terminal
Brilliant.... Mine was a different problem, having looked into intel driver stuff, I edited this and hadn't realised that it was messing things up... so removed the hashtags and deleted the 'ubuntu' entries. sudo xed /etc/lsb-release DISTRIB_ID=LinuxMint DISTRIB_RELEASE=18.1 DISTRIB_CODENAME=serena ...

Re: Multimedia Keys Not Working
Thanks for the info - same problem (though I hadn't discovered it working when I had the sound applet open). This worked for me in Mint 17, but it's failing after moving on to Mint 18 (Cinnnamon). So what gives? Opened 'Configuration Editor'... Browsed to / gnome/ sound Now we have 'default_mixer_de...

Can anyone answer 'working for me'? Simple test - open a terminal and type 'soundc' (Hit TAB to autocomplete) and then 'Enter'. Grab mouse, move the window and copy/paste what's left in the terminal. ben: [~] soundconverter SoundConverter 2.9.0-beta1 using GTK version: 3.0 using Gstreamer version: 1...

Re: which dock to use for a floating workspace switcher
What you're suggesting is some kind of dock which will require you to grab the mouse and click some applet to switch workspaces... In the past used docks and launchers for shortcuts. I still have a launcher - but often bypass it with direct keystrokes to launch apps (i.e. remapped 'mail' on keyboard...

Re: Cinnamon recurring fail terminal/systray
Fixed it. As a possible warning to future searchers: Icons not appearing or icons not correctly sized in System Tray Invisible terminal or other windows... The solution was to spot the recurring error on my part that de-railed Cinnamon. I guess it's a warning to everyone who searches for tweaks - ha...

Re: Cinnamon recurring fail terminal/systray
I looked at synaptic, and completely removed software from the last day before the error occurred... though I don't see the relevance, one was OSD Lyrics and the other was Docky. I disabled the ppa's, stopped mdm and ran upgrade in the tty and rebooted - same issues; three times I noticed cinnamon b...

Hi doug719, If you think that version 17.2 is not as stable as you would like, then use version 17.1 which also has long term support until 2019. I use version KDE 17.1 every day since it came out and it is very stable and works great; I love it. I have not been reading here in this forum from othe...

Re: Problems with icons in the system tray Cinnamon 1.6 Mint
I'm having a similar problem with 17.2 - whilst using a text editor and restarting conky, I noticed my Tray was defunkt and also my terminal and conky windows stopped displaying.
Rebooting hasn't solved it, even with conky not autostarting... strange.
