Re: How can I keep LMDE, Win7 and my BIOS all on my own time

The problem lies with the fact that Windows expects the hardware clock to be set to local time whereas Linux expects the hardware clock to be set to UTC. The fix is to either configure Windows to expect UTC which can be done by a registry fix: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE...

Re: Nemo-dropbox? Is this working with UP8?

The error message indicates that the Dropbox frontend script cannot download the daemon file at http://www.dropbox.com/download?plat=lnx.x86_64. Are you behind a proxy? If you are, you should be able lto do something do something similar to: sudo http_proxy=http://proxy_host:proxy_port dropbox start...

Re: Nemo-dropbox? Is this working with UP8?

Nemo-dropbox is working fine for me. The configuration settings are in the .dropbox directory. Remove the nemo-dropbox, nautilus-dropbox, and dropbox packages and then delete the config directory. You will only need to reinstall nemo-dropbox. Upon installation, it should attempt to download the most...

Re: UPDATE PACK 8 FEEDBACK THREAD

I don't understand why you guys having problems with the older Nvidia driver in the repositories don't simply just use the latest official drivers from Nvidia's site? That is not what we are testing here. Your exact configuration is what I normally run (liquorix and nvidia latest download); however...

Re: UPDATE PACK 8 FEEDBACK THREAD

For Virtualbox users: a combination of Guest Additions < 4.2.18 and kernel 3.11 triggers this bug . You can't access the shared folder.... Neither Caja nor ls can show anything in it, they just hang there until you interrupt them, and the CPU usage jumps to 50-70%. Upgrading Guest Additions (virtua...

Re: UPDATE PACK 8 FEEDBACK THREAD

So it's the nvidia driver. The version in Incoming is 319.72-1... can you try 319.76-1 from Testing? Tried 319.76-1 with the exact same result. I tested UP8 on a different machine with completely different hardware but with an nvidia card. The previous problem with fontconfig was exactly reproduced...

Re: UPDATE PACK 8 FEEDBACK THREAD

If you'll return to that and manage to figure it out, I think it may be a good idea to report a bug to Debian bug tracker, with the faulty font attached. But I was actually referring to another issue you've mentioned: font rendering was distorted with some characters not rendering at all OK, I have...

Re: UPDATE PACK 8 FEEDBACK THREAD

I wonder if it could be related to that bug in fontconfig-config I've mentioned before . I saw your post and fixed the path after I got fontconfig to install; however, fc-cache -f was segfaulting on one of the Microsoft fonts. I moved the directory in and out of/usr/share/fonts/truetype a couple of...

Re: UPDATE PACK 8 FEEDBACK THREAD

I took a production system, dd'ed the boot and system partitions, and fired off apt-get dist-upgrade to get UP8. fontconfig repeatedly segfaulted building the font cache preventing dist-upgrade from completing. With strace I narrowed it down to a ttf borrowed from windows, deleted the directory with...

Re: UP7: Kernel Panic after suspend

I've tested 3.11-2.dmz.1-liquorix-amd64 for a day and a half and have not seen the flood of messages, and suspend/resume appears to be working reliably again. The patch does appear to alleviate the problem.

Re: UP7: Kernel Panic after suspend

I too ran into this problem. I recently noticed suspend/resume was not always reliable and when I checked /var/log/messages - it had grown to gigabytes in size with the source of the entries being mei_me. There are reports of this all over the place. Blacklisting appears to mitigate the problem, but...

Re: UPDATE PACK 7 FEEDBACK THREAD

As for the thorough testing, we need someone with a real machine to test it in Steam, Wine and Skype. Anyone? :) Tested on my 24/7 box (no VM): Steam installed but complained that libGL.so.1 was missing at the end of its own download/update. I fixed this with 'apt-get install libgl1-nvidia-glx:i386...

Re: LMDE (64bit) -pos UP5- The WINE issue

I noticed that some of the default programs used by Firefox were also replaced with the Wine alternatives, e.g. when you click a link to a text file, it asks whether to open or save the file, in the "open" dialog the Wine notepad is listed as default. I was able to fix this by deleting all desktop ...

http://snapshot.debian.org is another way of finding old versions in case the cache has been cleared. Just enter the package name in the search field.
