Re: Canonical says 18.04 will now be LTS for 10 yrs

Currently universe and multiverse only get paid support from Canonical They do? I looked at Ubuntu Advantage but can't find details that suggest they do updates for universe and multiverse. If they have a repository with package updates for universe accessible only to paying users, they'd still hav...

Re: Canonical says 18.04 will now be LTS for 10 yrs

Important to note Canonical supports only the main and (working with vendors, as it's closed source) restricted repositories. Commonly, as on Linux Mint, people also enable the community supported universe and multiverse repositories. I don't imagine those will be supported for 10 years. Those are b...

Interesting, and you beat my news feed :) Personally I welcome this for home servers and such. What it will mean for Linux Mint, or other Ubuntu derivatives, I don't know.

Re: Mouse scrolling Issues

I think Chrome has little options aside from that you can toggle smooth scrolling in chrome://flags. I think you can use this extension to configure mousewheel scrolling behavior: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... ource=plus

Re: Mouse scrolling Issues

I'm saying mouse scroll behavior is configured in the web browser (on Linux; I don't know about Windows). If you want help with it, you need to tell others here what web browser you're asking about.

I think it's up to applications how many lines they scroll. Are you asking about a specific application?

Re: Debian Packages To Eliminate Vendor-Specific Patches, Affecting Downstreams Like Ubuntu

The existence of vendor-specific patches is new to me. To be frank, I find the concept ludicrous. As I understand it: Debian packages some software and puts the package in its repository; Ubuntu imports that Debian package and repackages it for its own repository, but wants some Ubuntu specific chan...

Re: Cinnamon - Is there an applet to group others applets in the task bar?

Haven't used any but either of these perhaps:
https://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets/view/169
https://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets/view/293

You can browse all the applets on that website. Install them through Cinnamon Settings > Applets.

Re: Where did the rest of the keyboard shortcuts go in 18.3?

Alt + middle mouse button is toggle raise/lower (configured as a Window Action). You can configure other Actions in Window Manager Settings (accessible from the window menu > More Actions). I can't make heads or tails of KDE keyboard shortcuts; why isn't there a list of window manager keyboard short...

Re: Accidently removed panel

Have them press Alt + F2 to open the run dialog. Here type the command cinnamon-settings panel (cinnamon <dash> settings <space> panel, and press Enter to run) and that will open the panel settings. From here a new panel can be added. It will ask where to add it; click at the bottom of the screen an...

Re: LM forum request- easy Bookmarks and Subscriptions access

Bookmarks and subscriptions are basically the same (a future phpBB version hopefully merges them). For both you get notifications when something happens to the topic (as configured here https://forums.linuxmint.com/ucp.php?i=ucp_notifications&mode=notification_options). Using the bookmarks or subscr...

Also check in Terminal in it's Edit > Profile Preferences menu that (on the General tab) it's select to use system fixed width font and not something custom.

Re: 'e' doesn't work in terminal after installing some programs

Hm, if that is the case try running this command (will be quicker than sorting through those files):
type -a e

Should answer: "bash: type: e: not found"

Edit: actually, that wouldn't stop you from being able to type the letter 'e'. Nevermind!

Re: Autodesk Maya on linux Mint

Obviously majority of people won't be using Maya; it's a very specialist program. Looking at a guide like https://linuxhint.com/install_autodesk_maya_ubuntu_1804/ it shows it to be a very error prone process, which is a given when trying to run software packaged for one OS on another. Start by shari...
