Re: Unable to locate package UxPlay?

Yeah, uxplay is only available on Ubuntu 22.04 and newer. Linux Mint 20.3 is based on Ubuntu 20.04 which is too old. Solution: upgrade to Linux Mint 21 or newer.

Re: WEBP...?

Linux Mint 20.1 is 5 year old software. It won't get webp support. To get webp support you have to upgrade your system to newer software. IIRC from Linux Mint 21 the system thumbnailer has webp support out of the box or else you can install webp-pixbuf-loader to get it. That should work with any fil...

Re: how to transfer files from Linux Mint 21.3 x86_64 on my Inspiron 3593 laptop, to an android moto g play 2023 smartph

Warpinator is installed by default on Linux Mint. It's a program to transfer files directly between computers or devices using your home network. Warpinator compatible programs are also available on other operating systems. For Android you can use this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details...

On this board it's been a constant source of abuse, with few legitimate users. To reduce the amount of abusive accounts the forum staff have to deal with it was banned, which is why you get that message it's not valid. Re: How do I update gcc to 13.2.0?

gcc-13 isn't available for Linux Mint 21.x. The latest gcc version is gcc-12. Linux Mint 22 will have gcc-13. It's due mid this year. If you need gcc-13 now you'll have some hoops to jump through. Compile it from source or use this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-toolchain-r/+archive/ubuntu/test....

Re: How to get notification of new Linux Mint release

The System Reports program will show a notification when a new release is available. System Reports is started automatically shortly after you log in and runs these and some other checks. Unless you disabled System Reports in or removed it from Startup Applications, or never shut down your computer,...

Re: How to make an execuatable available system-wide under terminal?

You can create a bin directory in your home directory and put it in there. When you open a new terminal, and the ~/bin directory exists, it gets added to your path so you can run commands in that directory just like you can run system commands.

Re: Do I need org.gnome.Platform?

org.gnome.Platform is one of the 3 major flatpak runtimes (the others being FreeDesktop and KDE). That you're getting an update for it most likely means you currently have a flatpak app installed that needs it. If you don't know which flatpak apps you installed, you can run flatpak list --app --colu...

Re: Pipewire issues

Linux Mint 21.3 uses PulseAudio for sound. PipeWire is installed for video only. Unless you explicitly went in to install PipeWire as the sound server and remove PulseAudio, your system is using PulseAudio for sound. (Linux Mint 22 will use PipeWire for sound and video but that's talking about the f...

Re: Why do my refresh rates not show as exact whole number?

The 59.95 vs 60 stems from US TV standard NTSC https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTSC#Resolution_and_refresh_rate: The NTSC field refresh frequency in the black-and-white system originally exactly matched the nominal 60 Hz frequency of alternating current power used in the United States. Re: Where to find Compiz support.

You're looking at issues from all Compiz projects in the Compiz Reloaded group. To create a new issue, as it says at the top right (assuming you're logged in), you need to first select which Compiz project to report it for. But those all say Compiz Reloaded is "futher development of Compiz 0.8....

Re: Disable DST=224.0.0.1

The multicast address is already blocked on your system, as per the UFW BLOCK message, which BTW is the default setting, so denying it shouldn't make a difference except to stop logging about it. You can deny it with command: sudo ufw deny in to 224.0.0.1 comment "All hosts multicast" You ...

You can have multiple kernel series installed at the same time, and you will get security updates for each. Kernel 5.15 is the long-term supported kernel. It gets security updates for the entire lifetime of Linux Mint 21.x. The 6.5 kernel is the hardware enablement kernel, it is supported for a shor...

The app itself sets the window title and icon so you'd have to do this from within Firefox. Maybe with this extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/crappy-firetitle/ An alternative that I use is to have multiple web browsers installed. I use the extra web browsers for specific task...

Re: boot time and systemd-journal-flush.service

For me it takes less than 0.1 seconds but that is with a fast SSD. Hard disks are very slow for such operations. It may be a typical time for a hard disk, IDK. Journal messages are kept in RAM during boot, until the root partition is mounted and then they are written to disk by systemd-journal-flush...

If you decide that one of those modules gives you useful output, you can put it in /etc/modules so that it loads automatically at boot like: echo "nct6775" | sudo tee -a /etc/modules It does no harm to use sensors-detect but now that you pointed out the above, yeah I had to add the nct677...

You don't get updates for applets that aren't installed. You must have installed this: https://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/applets/view/326. 3rd party applets like that don't install on their own -- somebody using your computer will have installed it. If you no longer want it you can uninstall it ...
