Re: Upgrade fro LM21.3 to LM22

There is an option in Upgrade Tool's menu to skip Timeshift snapshot (the menu is the button with three vertical lines top right). Not really a solution but bypassing whatever is causing it not to see the recent snapshot. I don't recommend doing this if you'll rely on Timeshift in the rare case some...

Re: Gnome Disks Utility (DISKS) Question

Disks aligns partitions to the 1 MiB boundary. For that 1000 MB partition that would be either: - 953 MiB (953 × 1024²), so 999292928 bytes - 954 MiB (954 × 1024²), so 1000341504 bytes Apparently on the one system Disks is rounding down (ensuring the 1000 MB partition is aligned to 1 MiB boundary an...

Re: How install Betterbird

I find flatrpak obscure when it comes to things like finding profile directories. Install the Warehouse flatpak through Software Manager; https://flathub.org/apps/io.github.flattool.Warehouse. Warehouse is nice app to browse and manage your installed flatpak apps. Go to User Data in the left sideba...

Re: disk management question

I don't recommend it. Basically you would have to: 1. delete sda1 2. move sda2 start to the start of the disk 3. move sda3 start to the (moved) end of sda2 4. move sda4 start to the (moved) end of sda3 5. move sda5 start to the (moved) start of sda4 6. increase the size of sda6, adding the (new) una...

Re: Flathub is not working through proxy

Set the http_proxy and https_proxy variables to your proxy. You can put them in the file ~/.config/environment.d/proxy.conf so in your own home directory. Press Ctrl+H or toggle to show hidden files through the View menu of your file browser to see hidden files like .config. As needed create the env...

Re: Unable to get notifications from flatpak apps (Discord)

Are notifications working for any other flatpaks? If you don't know, I suggest you install ASHPD Demo: flatpak install ashpd ASHPD Demo lets you try out all portals from flatpak. So start the app, go to the Notification on the left, give it a Title on the right and click Send button. On my Linux Min...

Re: what command to extract file names?

I suppose you mean you want a list of file names from a directory, as you don't mention any archive file (like a zip, the type of file you extract). To list the files in the current directory, just the file names, you can use the command (that's number 1 at the end, not letter l): ls -1 To save the ...

Re: Password Safe not "seeing" a folder on my desktop

I assume you installed Password Safe through Software Manager? That would install the flatpak version https://flathub.org/apps/org.pwsafe.pwsafe. Flatpak runs the app in a container which limits (for improved security) what parts of the operating system and your home directory the app can see. The a...

Re: GPG doesn't support compression

I assume the package manager doesn't know but you can try with this command if a package installed that file:

Code: Select all

dpkg -S /usr/local/bin/gpg

Re: GPG doesn't support compression

What does your apt policy gpg answer? Because gpg on Linux Mint 22 is version 2.4.4. Much newer that you have. Maybe that postgresql or microsoft repository has an older version of gpg and is forcing it to be installed. How are you creating the compressed gpg file? I tried this on Linux Mint 22 and ...

I tried it just now and yes the captcha you have to solve on GitHub is weird. You can thank AI chatbots for captcha's getting more and more difficult :| It's needed to stop spam/malware bots from registering. We have the same issue on the forums, it's a constant battle. Re: Steam Won't Start

Timeshift backs up only files of the operating system, not your own files. The Steam launcher — the deb packages — are included in the Timeshift backup but the Steam client as noted is located in your home directory. That is not included in Timeshift backups. Timeshift is most likely useless here. I...

Re: Steam Won't Start

Edit: would using "apt install --reinstall $(dpkg --get-selections steam* | cut -d$'\t' -f1 | paste -sd ' ')" work and reinstall over what is already installed? That reinstalls just the launcher. The launcher is what your start from the menu. It downloads & installs/updates the client...
