Re: bash hash weboob-config??

Searching for weboob-config shows this has something to do with "web outside of browsers" program. Is that something you had installed at some point? The old website is dead, it's now called woob: https://woob.tech/ If you run the hash command in the terminal, does it return anything other...

Re: Embedded Adobe PDF can't display in Firefox (LM19.2)

A screenshot wouldn't be useful. Then I don't know how to help on this other than as absque fenestris suggested above to try with a different web browser. That way you at least have a workaround, hopefully. When you visit the bank site you could try clicking on the shield icon in the Firefox address...

This is one of those problems where it helps if you can share a link to the website so we can see it.

Re: Help ! I am blocked with it (Cinnamon desktop)

If you remove the last panel Cinnamon prompts you, asking whether it should open Panel settings so you can undo that. Anyway, you didn't do that but you can open it manually now: 1. Press Alt+F2 to open the run dialog 2. Type the command: cinnamon-settings 3. Press Enter to execute. 4. In the Prefer...

Re: Thanks heaps for the edge version!

Whoever created the edge version, you have my undying gratitude! The Edge version is an official Linux Mint version: https://linuxmint-user-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/edge.html. It was created by Clem specifically to tackle issues as with your son's laptop, when the regular version won't boot/i...

Re: RANDOM Ads in Chrome for Android on LMF...

There's now slide-down ads at the top of the page which cover up all the stuff at the top (general site navigation, etc.) and now forces the user to pause, pull the page further down to re-expose stuff at the top, and then you can tap on whichever item you were interested in. I don't normally visit...

PopUpOFF https://github.com/RomanistHere/PopUpOFF sounds like a useful extension, it's supposed to also block overlay ads like these. It's available for Firefox, Chrome/Chromium and few other browsers: - for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/popupoff/ - for Chrome/Chromium: htt...

Re: RANDOM Ads in Chrome for Android on LMF...

Thanks for the screenshot Karl. The "#google_vignette" in the URL found me this is a new feature of Google AdSense called Vignette ads, which are full screen ads. It looks like the reason these are being shown now is that Google AdSense was doing a test for a limited time: half the website...

If you previously installed these programs through Software Manager (or Synpatic, apt-get or other package manager front-end) then the programs would have been installed in system directories. Only the user files of the programs—such as preferences and settings—are located in your home directory. Yo...

Re: "usrmerge" command!

You don't need to do anything other than install the package usrmerge. As the instructions say, just run the command apt install usrmerge and that installs it. The package does everything on its own. There's no other command to run. And yes you should consider it necessary to install. See the latest...

Re: "error: C compiler cannot create executables"

@Xenopeek: can't follow your suggestions, because I can't run bjnp to begin with. The provided "install.sh" doesn't work at all... does nothing. Tried following instructions from the bjnp site to install it... and that's where I run into the "C compiler cannot create executabes"...

Re: "error: C compiler cannot create executables"

Which Linux Mint version are you on? I see Linux Mint 20.x have cups-backend-bjnp package version 2.0.3. apt install cups-backend-bjnp should do it. If you're on Linux Mint 19.x (and have a 64 bit installation) I suspect you can just download the amd64 package file for Linux Mint 20.x from https://p...

Re: "error: C compiler cannot create executables"

Did you install the build-essential package? That's usually needed to be able to compile software from source. See the pinned topic https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=90&t=230142 with command to install it and maybe you'll want to use checkinstall so you can easily uninstall the softwa...

Howdy and welcome to the forums! I assume you want the static pages to be accessible from the internet? And that you have a domain name? First temporarily disable all swap: sudo swapoff -v -a Then edit crypttab file and remove cryptswap2 entry on sdb: xed admin:///etc/crypttab Remove the line starting with cryptswap2, save the file and close. Same with fstab: xed admin:///etc/fstab Remove the line starting with /dev/mapper/cryptswap2...

Re: LMDE(5) and the Debian Handbook

The Debian book can be a useful read. But yes for things having to do with package management pay a little more attention to differences. One important difference, if you get to the command line stuff, is that Linux Mint's apt command is different from Debian's apt command and predates it by years. ...
